<p>Provide robust technical support on geology for the development of integrated geoscience learnings and their implementation into the integrated subsurface under the TL ABB Oil Team Subsurface Operated Assets scope, by applying advanced geoscience knowledge and industry learnings to deliver timely, high-quality geological analysis and interpretation (including the 3D static model) that progresses the Company's operated and non-operated assets across a variety of reservoirs, fluids, and maturity levels, to lead development operations, geological modelling, data acquisition, and people progression, and to coordinate special studies, prepare and update subsurface interpretations, and provide relevant data inputs to other disciplines, in order to enhance geological interpretation and support the discovery of significant oil and gas deposits.</p><p>The position will act in accordance with the OQEP's Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines, and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, QHSE & Energy Management System requirements standards, Omani's government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.</p><p><strong>Main tasks and responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Lead, develop, and provide robust technical geological judgement on modification and innovation proposals in accordance with project (subsurface) requirements and relevant standards, ensuring safety and reliability, and provide guidance to junior engineers, trainees, and teams.</li><li>Provide robust technical geological expertise, support, and innovative solutions for the execution of the geology process/discipline, ensuring teams apply common engineering principles and concepts; may handle a large scope of projects simultaneously.</li><li>Represent the company as lead geoscientist at partner interface meetings and Technical Committee Meetings (TCMs).</li><li>Execute the pre-defined geological elements of development projects.</li><li>Apply advanced geological expertise and professional judgement in delivering assigned projects, and present completed analysis and recommendations at Peer Reviews, Peer Assists, and Functional Reviews under the Company's Value Assurance Framework; may act as a peer reviewer for other projects.</li><li>Be accountable for formulating realistic alternative subsurface realisations and providing field-optimum development concepts and recommendations.</li><li>Ensure all geological uncertainties and risks are incorporated into forward exploration and development plans and included in all estimates of reserves.</li><li>Liaise with other team members to carry out subsurface evaluation and analysis, propose well locations, and pick wells to fulfil business needs, as well as defining necessary data gathering such as logging and coring.</li><li>Contribute to all phases of planning, delivery, and evaluation of well operations as assigned, including Geotech documents, data gathering, daily reporting, and post-well studies and analyses.</li><li>Prepare and keep up to date subsurface interpretations presented as structural contour maps, thickness maps, and cross-sections aimed at defining the boundary conditions of pools and reservoirs.</li><li>Integrate production and engineering data to meet the Company's production and forecasting targets, ensuring all evaluations are documented and related geological data (both petro-technical and physical) is handled in accordance with the Company's Data Management Standards.</li><li>Propose, develop, and support subsurface work to gain internal and partner approval for operator recommendations and proposals.</li><li>Establish and formulate workflows, best practices, and procedures for OQEP upstream in the geology function.</li><li>Adhere to appropriate subsurface policies and standards.</li><li>Work safely and think proactively about personal safety and the safety of others, and actively participate in, contribute to, and promote the Company's occupational health, safety, security, and environment culture.</li><li>Ensure work is carried out in accordance with the Company's HSE and Security policies and procedures, meet Company HSE goals and targets, and participate in HSE programs.</li><li>Fulfil stand-by / on-call duties when required.</li><li>Perform other similar duties as assigned by the TL ABB Oil Team.</li></ul><p><strong>Key interactions</strong></p><ul><li>Internal: TL ABB Oil Team and the ABB Development subsurface team, Business Development and enabling functions (Reservoir Engineering, Petrophysics, Geophysics, Well Delivery & Operations.</li><li>External: Joint-venture partners, technical committees, consultancy firms, and service providers.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Desired Candidate Profile</strong></p><ul><li>BS degree in Geology, a relevant science subject, or equivalent. <p>PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES</p><p>1. Carry out interpretation of 2D and 3D seismic data from the historical seismic databank and from new data received from seismic surveys. Identifies subsurface structure/trapping mechanism and reservoir distribution utilizing geophysical software packages such as Petrel, Geo-Graphix, DSD etc.</p><p>2. Generating plausible geophysical and geological concepts for leads and prospects in all possible plays, with appropriate risks, volume and commercial analysis and in support of a growing inventory of exploration portfolio.</p><p>3. Establish and maintain up-to-date Exploration Prospect Portfolio for all prospects for all levels, shallow to deep plays.</p><p>4. Identify new oil and gas prospects based on comprehensive technical work mainly Geophysical and Geological, from a regional prospective to block and field/prospect level.</p><p>5. Perform detail evaluation of identified prospect to progress to well proposal, presenting to the Management and shareholders to seek approval to drill Exploration wells in which clear conclusions and recommendations are required to the management to make decisions.</p><p>7. Work closely with Exploration geologist and reservoir engineer on analysis work of new found traps to ascertain the most likely locations of reservoir tops and subsequent locations of potential wells.</p><p>8. Identify optimal drilling locations using knowledge of 3D seismic interpretation and knowledge of regional and prospect specific petroleum systems.</p><p>9. Seamless coordination of all exploration-related operations between relevant internal and external parties.</p><p>10. Involvement on Tender documentation preparation and evaluation of bids for any study pertaining seismic; such as seismic data acquisition, survey plan, Processing, Reservoir Characterization, VSP, prospect identification etc.</p><p>11. Follow up and Supervise specialist or outsourced studies of seismic evaluation.</p><p>12. Stays up to date with current developments in seismic and geophysical mapping techniques and software. The role will also involve participating in the assessment of new technology, methodologies and workflows</p><p>13. Provide mentorship, guidance and control as required to junior Daleel geoscience staff with respect to geophysical methods and evaluation procedures.</p><p>14. <p>Due to the growing number of pipeline projects, MDO is seeking Principal Mining Engineer to lead Technical Studies to own and drive the technical study process and to bridge between the Exploration, Business Development (BD) and Project Development (PD) teams in advancing projects through successive stages of maturity.</p>
<p>As a suitably qualified and experienced Principal Mining Engineer reporting to the Director of Exploration Planning and Chief Exploration Officer, you will initiate, scope, lead and quality-assure multidisciplinary technical studies across the portfolio, integrating geology, mining, metallurgy and processing, infrastructure, environmental and economic inputs into investment-ready deliverables. You will manage external consultants and contractors, govern study quality against stage-gate criteria, and support the BD and PD teams through the full project lifecycle (scoping, pre-feasibility, feasibility, project assessment, remediation, and decommissioning/closure). Regular site visits and close coordination with a range of consultants will be required.</p>

<p>1. Initiating, scoping, leading and coordinating scoping, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies across the project pipeline, working with the BD & PD teams and external consultants</p>
<p>2. Defining study scope, work breakdown, schedules, budgets and stage-gate deliverables, and governing study progress and quality against agreed criteria</p>
<p>3. Integrating multidisciplinary inputs (geology, mining, metallurgy and processing, infrastructure, environmental and social, and economics) into coherent, decision-ready study outputs</p>
<p>4. Selecting, managing and quality-assuring external consultants and contractors engaged in study work</p>
<p>5. Leading technical-economic evaluation, including capital and operating cost estimation, cash flow modelling and NPV/IRR analysis, together with trade-off and options studies</p>

<p>7. Directing and reviewing short-, medium- and long-term mine design, LOM planning and scheduling produced in-house or by consultants</p>

<p> Bachelor s degree in mining engineering and/or a related technical discipline (e.g. geology, metallurgy, mineral processing). A postgraduate qualification or MBA will be an added advantage.</p>

<p> Minimum 10 years overall experience across mining studies and projects, spanning multiple commodities including base and precious metals, chromite, and industrial minerals (dolomite, gypsum, silica, limestone), with several years in a study management or technical lead capacity</p>
<p> Initiating, leading and delivering technical studies (scoping, pre-feasibility and feasibility) through formal stage-gate processes</p>
<p> Managing multidisciplinary study teams and external consultants from concept through to feasibility and execution</p>
<p> Directing mine design, LOM planning and scheduling for both open pit and underground projects</p>

<p><b>Job purpose</b><br>Provide strategic leadership, technical direction, and management oversight for exploration activities across OQEP s operated and joint-venture new assets, leading a multidisciplinary Geoscience (G&G) team to deliver a robust inventory of prospects and leads, high-quality geological evaluations across diverse reservoirs, fluids, and maturity levels, and well-matured exploration and appraisal opportunities underpinned by sound data-acquisition strategies. The role is accountable for the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of all asset-related operational activities, for managing contracts and controlling exploration expenditure to optimise value, and for developing the long-term asset exploration strategy together with a robust annual Work Program and Budget (WP&B).
