SMS - Electrical & Automation Experience : 4-15 Years Location: Oman Educational Qualification: B.Tech /Diploma- Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation or equivalent Purpose of the Role The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of electrical and automation systems in the Steel Melting Shop comprising Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), Ladle Refining Furnace (LRF/LF), Continuous Casting Machine (CCM), Raw Material Handling System (RMHS), and associated utilities. The incumbent will ensure maximum equipment availability, process stability, energy efficiency, and adherence to safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Electrical Maintenance Ensure uninterrupted operation of electrical systems across EAF, LRF/LF, CCM, RMHS, Fume Extraction System (FES), and auxiliary equipment. Execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities. Troubleshoot electrical faults to minimize production downtime. Maintain HT/LT switchgear, transformers, PCC, MCC, VFDs, soft starters, motors, UPS, DG synchronization, and power distribution systems. Monitor power quality, load balancing, and electrical reliability. Automation & Control Maintain PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, and industrial automation systems. Diagnose and rectify PLC logic and communication faults. Maintain industrial communication networks such as Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC, etc. Support Level-1 automation systems and coordinate with Level-2 automation teams. Ensure calibration and health monitoring of field instrumentation. Process Optimization Improve equipment availability and automation reliability. Optimize furnace automation, caster sequencing, hydraulic controls, and drive performance. Implement automation modifications for productivity improvement. Reduce electrical and automation-related production losses. Reliability & Continuous Improvement Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for major electrical failures. Implement predictive maintenance practices including thermography, vibration monitoring, and insulation testing. Drive TPM, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and reliability improvement initiatives. Prepare action plans to improve MTBF and reduce MTTR. Energy Management Monitor power consumption of EAF, LRF, CCM, and utilities. Implement energy-saving initiatives. Analyze specific power consumption and identify improvement opportunities . Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations and statutory requirements. Implement Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO), Permit to Work (PTW), and electrical isolation procedures. Conduct electrical safety audits and risk assessments. Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and internal safety standards. Planning & Documentation Prepare preventive maintenance schedules. Maintain maintenance history through SAP PM/CMMS. Maintain electrical drawings, PLC backups, SOPs, and documentation. Track electrical KPIs and maintenance reports. Team Management Lead and supervise technicians, electricians, and automation engineers.
