<p>Due to the growing number of pipeline projects, MDO is seeking Principal Mining Engineer to lead Technical Studies to own and drive the technical study process and to bridge between the Exploration, Business Development (BD) and Project Development (PD) teams in advancing projects through successive stages of maturity.</p>
<p>As a suitably qualified and experienced Principal Mining Engineer reporting to the Director of Exploration Planning and Chief Exploration Officer, you will initiate, scope, lead and quality-assure multidisciplinary technical studies across the portfolio, integrating geology, mining, metallurgy and processing, infrastructure, environmental and economic inputs into investment-ready deliverables. You will manage external consultants and contractors, govern study quality against stage-gate criteria, and support the BD and PD teams through the full project lifecycle (scoping, pre-feasibility, feasibility, project assessment, remediation, and decommissioning/closure). Regular site visits and close coordination with a range of consultants will be required.</p>

<p>1. Initiating, scoping, leading and coordinating scoping, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies across the project pipeline, working with the BD & PD teams and external consultants</p>
<p>2. Defining study scope, work breakdown, schedules, budgets and stage-gate deliverables, and governing study progress and quality against agreed criteria</p>
<p>3. Integrating multidisciplinary inputs (geology, mining, metallurgy and processing, infrastructure, environmental and social, and economics) into coherent, decision-ready study outputs</p>
<p>4. Selecting, managing and quality-assuring external consultants and contractors engaged in study work</p>
<p>5. Leading technical-economic evaluation, including capital and operating cost estimation, cash flow modelling and NPV/IRR analysis, together with trade-off and options studies</p>
<p>6. Reviewing and challenging advanced exploration projects by working closely with the Resource and Project Geologists to confirm study-readiness</p>
<p>7. Directing and reviewing short-, medium- and long-term mine design, LOM planning and scheduling produced in-house or by consultants</p>
<p>8. Providing technical support to the BD & PD teams through project execution phases, including M&A, due diligence and JV technical reviews</p>
<p>9. Reporting and presenting study outcomes and recommendations to management and investment decision forums</p>
<p>10. May be assigned to coordinate special or ad hoc projects as needed.</p>

<p> Bachelor s degree in mining engineering and/or a related technical discipline (e.g. geology, metallurgy, mineral processing). A postgraduate qualification or MBA will be an added advantage.</p>

<p> Minimum 10 years overall experience across mining studies and projects, spanning multiple commodities including base and precious metals, chromite, and industrial minerals (dolomite, gypsum, silica, limestone), with several years in a study management or technical lead capacity</p>
<p> Initiating, leading and delivering technical studies (scoping, pre-feasibility and feasibility) through formal stage-gate processes</p>
