The role is responsible for ensuring the safe, timely, and compliant execution of all electrical systems through completion, energization, testing, and handover to operations. The successful candidate will act as a key site-based technical authority, coordinating closely with construction, commissioning, operations, contractors, and engineering teams to deliver systems in accordance with project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements. <h4>Key responsibilities</h4> Pre-commissioning & commissioning execution <ul> <li>Lead and supervise all electrical pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, including inspections, testing, energization, and system handover.</li> <li>Ensure readiness of electrical systems for commissioning by validating construction completion, punch list clearance, and mechanical completion dossiers.</li> <li>Oversee execution of insulation resistance tests, continuity checks, functional testing, loop checks, cable meggering, and high-voltage testing.</li> <li>Manage and authorize electrical system energization activities, ensuring compliance with approved procedures and permits.</li> <li>Coordinate commissioning sequences aligned with system priorities and overall project schedules.</li> </ul> Safety & compliance <ul> <li>Ensure full compliance with HSE policies, electrical safety regulations, and project commissioning procedures.</li> <li>Lead risk assessments, job hazard analyses (JHA), and method statement reviews related to electrical works.</li> <li>Enforce lockout-tagout (LOTO) and safe isolation procedures during testing and energization.</li> <li>Promote a strong safety culture within commissioning teams and contractor workforce.</li> </ul> Team leadership & coordination <ul> <li>Supervise electrical commissioning supervisors, technicians, and contractors on site.</li> <li>Allocate manpower, tools, and resources effectively to meet commissioning milestones.</li> <li>Interface closely with construction, instrumentation, mechanical, and operations teams to resolve inter-disciplinary issues.</li> <li>Coordinate with vendors and OEMs during factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and specialized commissioning activities.</li> </ul> Documentation & reporting <ul> <li>Review and approve electrical commissioning procedures, test packs, and completion dossiers.</li> <li>Ensure accurate recording of test results and verification data in commissioning databases.</li> <li>Track and manage punch lists, anomalies, and non-conformances to closure.</li> <li>Provide regular progress reports, highlighting risks, delays, and mitigation actions to commissioning management.</li> </ul> Technical oversight Provide technical leadership for HV and LV systems including: <ul> <li>HV/LV switchgear</li> <li>Transformers</li> <li>Motors and drives (VFDs)</li> <li>UPS systems</li> <li>Emergency power and generators</li> <li>Lighting, earthing, and lightning protection systems</li> </ul> Support troubleshooting and resolution of electrical issues encountered during commissioning and early operation. Handover & start-up support <ul> <li>Support structured handover of commissioned systems to operations and maintenance teams.</li> <li>Participate in start-up, performance testing, and early operational support as required.</li> <li>Ensure commissioning documentation is complete, approved, and archived per project requirements.</li> </ul> <h4>Qualifications & experience</h4> Education Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent technical qualification. Experience <ul> <li>Minimum 12–15 years of experience in electrical engineering within large EPC or energy infrastructure projects.</li> <li>Proven experience in pre-commissioning and commissioning of complex industrial facilities (LNG, oil & gas, petrochemical, or power projects preferred).</li> <li>Hands-on experience with high-voltage electrical systems and critical power infrastructure.</li> <li>Strong understanding of international electrical codes and standards (IEC, IEEE, NFPA, etc.).</li> </ul> Skills & competencies <ul> <li>Strong leadership and team coordination skills in a multicultural site environment.</li> <li>High level of competence in electrical safety management and energization planning.</li> <li>Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities under schedule pressure.</li> <li>Strong communication and reporting skills.</li> <li>Ability to interpret engineering drawings, single line diagrams, and commissioning procedures.</li> <li>Proficient in MS Office and electronic commissioning documentation systems.</li> </ul> <h4>Work conditions</h4> <ul> <li>Site-based role within a large industrial construction environment.</li> <li>May require shift work, extended hours, and weekend coverage during critical commissioning phases.</li> <li>Ability to work in challenging climatic conditions as per project location.</li> </ul>
