The TD General Supervisor is a role within the Technical Department. The TD-GSV is responsible for planning, directing, organising and supervising the day-to-day maintenance and repair activities.
He/she controls quality and is responsible for the implementation of HSEQ standards.
He/she also plans and implements technical training programmes for the technical team.

Key tasks
- The main duties and responsibilities of the General Supervisor include;
- Ensures the health and safety of all workers under your direct supervision
- Holds toolbox talks on a daily basis and according to the CSO shift schedule.
- Manages the maintenance and repair of equipment in a timely and cost effective manner, taking into account the quality and longevity of the equipment.
- Ensures that equipment is maintained in a safe and reliable operating condition in accordance with the planned preventive maintenance programme and to identify and rectify recurring problems.
- Monitors warranties and ensures that warranty claims are made.
- Ensures that breakdowns are rectified promptly and that follow-up work is carried out.
- Monitors that repairs to equipment do not adversely affect service to operations.
- Keeps Operations informed of current equipment availability through regular communications and by issuing reports as required.
- Works with the Planning Unit to plan the maintenance programme and provides feedback with the aim of continuous improvement.
- Recommends and develops overall equipment and improvement modifications.
- Manages the team to work effectively and efficiently as a team and with the operations group to ensure optimum equipment availability.
- Supervises sub-contractors working on site and any major projects or repairs.
- Leads and motivates the TD team in a professional manner.
- Adheres to established service levels and service standards.
- Actively participates in the recruitment and selection of personnel.
- Defines and implements work processes and participates in projects.
- Conducts performance reviews with staff.
- Coordinates with project management.
- Manages weekly personal shift rotas including holiday management through the management system.
- Coordinates with Purchasing to ensure necessary spare parts are ordered, tracked and stocked at optimum levels.
- Acts as liaison between TD team members and Technical Manager including daily correspondence.
- Daily morning meeting with OPS General Supervisors to discuss equipment availability.
- Acts as first point of contact for OPS General Supervisor level for troubleshooting and other OPS issues.
- Provides representative support to all departments within TD as requested by the Technical Manager.
- Designs technical training programmes according to organisational requirements.
- Delivers training, webinars, workshops, etc.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of training programmes.
- Records and reports on training efforts.
- Equipment health assessment and related KPI's.
- Workshop oriented KPI's.
- Forecasts and assists in monitoring CAPEX and OPEX.
Your Profile
- Working level will be at least Diploma, preferably Bachelor's Degree.
- Strong technical and technological background in the maintenance and repair of heavy industrial equipment (forklifts, reach stackers, terminal trucks, etc.)
- 5 - 10 years of experience.
- Excellent communication skills in English (both verbal and written) Minimum level B2.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.
- Problem solving skills.
- Proven leadership, organisational and systems analysis skills.
- Technical support.
- Familiar with testing methodologies and tools.
- Is a strong troubleshooter with a proven ability to structurally solve problems.
