We have been mandated by one of our clients, into iron & steel business for the below mentioned role.

Position: Roller TP Operator(Multi Slit Rolling Mill Bar Mill)
Location: Oman

Experience: 5+ years
Department: Rolling Mill Bar Mill
Reporting To: Shift In-charge / Rolling Mill Manager

Qualification: ITI - Fitter

Job Purpose:

The incumbent will be responsible to ensure proper roll pass preparation, roll changing, groove maintenance, guide setting, and smooth rolling operations in the Multi Slit Bar Mill for achieving targeted production, yield, product quality, and mill availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out roll changing, roll assembly, guide fitting, and pass setting in the Multi Slit Rolling Mill (Bar Mill).
• Ensure proper groove dressing, roll pass alignment, and slit pass preparation for smooth rolling operations.
• Maintain and monitor rolling parameters to achieve dimensional accuracy and quality standards of TMT/Bar products.
• Coordinate with mill operators, mechanical maintenance, and production teams for smooth mill operation.
• Attend breakdowns related to rolls, guides, repeaters, twist pipes, and slit rolling arrangements.
• Ensure proper guide setting and alignment to avoid cobbles and rolling defects.
• Maintain optimum roll consumption and improve roll life.
• Ensure minimum downtime during roll changes and stand preparation.
• Monitor product quality including size tolerance, surface defects, and bar straightness.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures during roll changing and mill operations.
• Maintain housekeeping and safe working practices in the rolling mill area.
• Participate in productivity improvement, yield improvement, and cost optimization initiatives.

Key Skills:

• Hands-on experience in Multi Slit Rolling Mill (Bar/TMT Mill).
• Strong understanding of:
• Roll pass design
• Slit rolling technology
• Guide setting & alignment
• Roll changing practices
• Stand setting
• Cobble analysis and troubleshooting
• TMT/Bar rolling process
• Experience in handling rolling sizes and dimensional control.
