Position: Senior Associate - SPV & Tax Management
Reports to: Manager - SPV & Tax Management
Directorate: Investment Operations
Purpose:
To perform Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) related processes and tax related transactions in order to ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and accurate timely reporting.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Monitor and ensure completion of SPV audits on time to comply with statutory requirements and OIA internal policy.
• Review periodic SPV financial reports and obtain required clarification from subordinates and administrators to ensure the report's accuracy.
• Coordinate and ensure SPV board meetings take place to comply with relevant OIA policy.
• Monitor SPV banks and oversee the payment and withdrawal processes, ensuring the SPVs always have optimal cash balance by coordinating with the Treasury department.
• Produce periodic department dashboard to report timely Tax and SPV activities to OIA management.
• Implement accounting systems within the SPV & Tax Management department to ensure all activities comply with OIA’s policies and procedures.
• Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with all other related units within OIA to contribute to achieving the SPV & Tax Management Department’s goals and objectives.
• Supervise Junior team member in their day-to-day tasks and provide them with appropriate feedback and counseling to guide them in managing their performance.
• Oversee tax filing, payments-related activities, and tax payments schedule to ensure compliance with lax laws and tax calendar.
• Support the Manager - SPV & Tax Management in liaison with local and international tax consultants to ensure professional advice to OIA on how to limit their tax liability for overseas transactions.
• Assist Manager - SPV & Tax Management in M&A activity from a tax perspective and advise on appropriate tax structures considering equity investment and financing to identify opportunities to streamline or redesign tax processes or structures within OIA.
• Monitor and maintain oversight of all tax inquiries, assessments, and audits at both OIA and SPV levels to ensure effective management of OIA tax risk.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors and provide them with all required information to facilitate the preparation of internal and external audit reports for tax -related queries.
• Review the tax advisory presentation to ensure high standards of confidentiality and safeguard commercially sensitive information.
• Oversee the log of tax related queries/matters to ensure the same is addressed in a complete, accurate, and timely manner.
• Prepare all related tax compliance reporting to ensure that all obligations are documented and presented on a timely basis and tax returns are accurately stated.
• Comply with the implementation of SPV & Tax Management Department’s policies and procedures, to ensure that all relevant procedural and legislative requirements are fulfilled.
• Comply with all relevant health, safety, and quality requirements, in order to guarantee employee safety and legislative compliance.
• Contribute to identifying opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account ‘leading best practices’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or any relevant field
- CPA, ACCA, ADIT or CMA is desirable
- 8 to 10 years of related experience
- Fluency in English is essential
- Proficiency in MS Office is essential (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
- Experience with business related software is desirable
