Lead the safe
start-up and delivery of all Wells activities. Accountable for the delivery of
safe and efficient performance on the projects using either drilling or
work-over rig units. Involves daily management of planning and execution
of Wells projects by the drilling unit(s).
Responsible for
leading, coaching, and motivating a very diverse group of Drilling Engineers
and Drilling and Services (sub)contractors in the planning and execution phases
of the project, in a remote and complex operating environment.
Drive the team
towards operational excellence and continuous improvement through the
application of best practices and new technologies. Responsible for the
provision of a “Safe place of Work” ensuring HS&E management systems and
safety cases are in place, and verified effective to achieve the strict HSE
targets.
Develops processes and procedures in line with company
policy and business requirements for all aspects of well delivery.
Plays an active part in the reserves maturation plans
working closely with sub-surface and surface engineering teams.
Supports the Supply Chain
department by providing input for main service contracts and development of IPM
contracts as requiredRequirementsEXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
- Engineering degree, or equivalent.
- At least 15 preferably 20+ years relevant experience in
E&P in well engineering with knowledge of well planning, well design, well
programming and well construction including completions. - Must hold IWCF valid well control certificate.
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders,
from field personnel to managers in the office. Ability to bring people along
and build team spirit between Office and Site. - Ability to control and manage Emergency Response situations.Ability
to avoid potential difficulties by predicting and understanding the down-hole
conditions and applying the appropriate techniques and/or preventative measures. - In the event of operational problem or HSE incident, must be
able to identify the root cause and initiate corrective action. - Ability and willingness to initiate improvement in equipment
and/or procedure and to streamline the operation whilst keeping a balance
between well quality and costs. - Must ensure that the Drilling and Service/Specialist
Contractors conducts all aspects of the rig operation, in accordance with
Company’s policies, standard, procedure and guideline on both Technical and HSE
aspects. - Good oral and written Technical English capability
(communication skills)
- Fully conversant with Well Planning software, directional
drilling and horizontal well operations with a proven HSE and Operational
leadership abilities in onshore oilfield operations.
REPORTING:The Well Engineering Manager will report directly
to the CEO.
LOCATION:
The job is categorized as Muscat base, on permanent bases.
Due to the operational nature of the role it is required to be available on
call at any time of day or night mid-week and undertake weekend work as part of
the weekend duty roster
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:
- The Well Engineering Manager responsibilities
include but are not limited to: - Safe start-up of work units. Manage the rig operations from
the Muscat. - Accountable for resourcing the team with the required
competent skills. - Accountable for implementation of all Well Engineering
programs that are required to run safe and efficient drilling operations. - Ensure that all stated objectives of the well are achievable
within the agreed program within time constraints and budget. KPI:
Actual/Planned cost within AFE budget. - Provide guidance and expert judgment to the rig site
Drilling Supervisor on HSE, drilling, completion, work-over, production
testing, abandonment and all matters related to the operations of a rig. - Accountable for project wells performance improvement and
achieving a clear “Learning Curve”. Maintain an active learning loop by implementing
section Pre-Planning/After Action Reviews. - In conjunction with Logistics Start Up Lead and relevant
Vendors, ensure materials, personnel and services are mobilized in time to
prevent rig idle time. - Management of interfaces with Sub-surface teams in Muscat.
- Provide active input into scope and technical specifications
for the delivery of the Wells SCM efforts. - Responsible for coaching and mentoring of all Wells staff.
- Ensure compliance with all legislative
requirements and the HCF/Industry minimum standards. Verify this through field
visits and audit and review structure.
