The Category Buyer – Non-Food is responsible for developing, sourcing, and managing all Grocery Non-Food categories, including Household, Cleaning, Personal Care, Paper, and Utility Products. This role focuses on driving category growth, ensuring the right assortment, achieving profitability targets, and maintaining strong relationships with local and international suppliers. The Buyer works closely with Retail Operations, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to ensure pricing competitiveness, promotional effectiveness, and overall category success.
</p><p><strong>Category & Product Management</strong></p><ul><li><p>Develop and manage the Grocery Non-Food category portfolio, ensuring an optimal product range and competitive positioning.</p></li><li><p>Conduct regular category reviews to track performance, margins, and market trends.</p></li><li><p>Introduce new products, brands, and suppliers based on consumer demand, innovation, and market opportunities.</p></li><li><p>Coordinate with the Supply Chain and Warehouse teams to ensure adequate stock levels and product availability across all stores.</p></li><li><p>Manage the full product lifecycle – from listing and pricing to delisting of non-performing SKUs.</p></li></ul><br><p><strong>Buying, Sourcing & Supplier Management</strong></p><ul><li><p>Build and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and international suppliers.</p></li><li><p>Negotiate pricing, margins, trade discounts, and payment terms to ensure profitability and cost efficiency.</p></li><li><p>Evaluate and onboard new vendors after due diligence and documentation verification.</p></li><li><p>Ensure supplier performance in terms of delivery timelines, product quality, and service levels.</p></li><li><p>Work with import and purchasing teams for exclusive or private-label non-food items.</p></li></ul><br><p><strong>Business Development Agreements (BDA) & Trade Deals</strong></p><ul><li><p>Prepare, negotiate, and finalize BDA agreements with all major suppliers in line with company strategy.</p></li><li><p>Ensure all BDAs and trade deals are documented, approved, and aligned with financial and audit requirements.</p></li><li><p>Monitor BDA utilization, rebate tracking, and trade funding efficiency.</p></li><li><p>Review supplier contributions to promotional budgets, visibility, and display activities.</p></li><li><p>Submit regular updates on BDA performance, supplier commitments, and settlement status.</p></li></ul><br><p><strong>Pricing, Promotions & Profitability Management</strong></p><ul><li><p>Define retail pricing based on market analysis, competitor benchmarks, and profitability goals.</p></li><li><p>Plan and execute promotions, offers, and in-store campaigns in coordination with Marketing and Operations.</p></li><li><p>Analyze post-promotion results and assess ROI for supplier-funded activities.</p></li><li><p>Continuously monitor category GP and NP margins, implementing corrective actions to maintain target levels.</p></li><li><p>Ensure proper price change communication and implementation across all outlets.</p></li></ul><br><p><strong>Store Visits & Execution Monitoring</strong></p><ul><li><p>Conduct regular store visits to assess category execution, planogram compliance, and product visibility.</p></li><li><p>Review stock levels, pricing accuracy, and promotional displays during visits.</p></li><li><p>Provide feedback and corrective actions to improve merchandising and space utilization.</p></li><li><p>Interact with store managers and floor supervisors to understand customer feedback and market trends.</p></li><li><p>Track competitor activities and ensure category competitiveness in every store.</p></li></ul><br><p><strong>Market Research & Consumer Insights</strong></p><ul><li><p>Conduct market surveys to benchmark competitor pricing, new products, and brand presence.</p></li><li><p>Analyze consumer preferences and buying behavior within non-food categories.</p></li><li><p>Identify category growth opportunities and recommend range expansions or rationalizations.</p></li><li><p>Stay updated on global and regional non-food trends (eco-friendly products, hygiene innovations, etc.).</p><br></li></ul><p><strong>Inventory & Replenishment Coordination</strong></p><ul><li><p>Plan stock replenishment to maintain availability without overstocking.</p></li><li><p>Monitor slow-moving, damaged, and near-expiry items, and initiate clearance or markdown actions.</p></li><li><p>Coordinate with supply chain and logistics for smooth deliveries and returns.</p></li><li><p>Maintain optimal stock turnover ratios to ensure healthy inventory management.</p><br></li></ul><p><strong>Financial & Analytical Reporting</strong></p><ul><li><p>Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual category performance reports (sales, GP, NP, stock status, BDA utilization).</p></li><li><p>Track sales vs. budget and submit variance analyses to management.</p></li><li><p>Maintain category budget trackers, supplier deal summaries, and purchase planning reports.</p></li><li><p>Coordinate with Finance for supplier payments, claims, and settlements.</p></li></ul><p><strong>Desired Candidate Profile</strong></p><ul><li><p>Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or Supply Chain Management (MBA preferred).</p></li><li><p>4-6 years of experience in FMCG/Retail Buying or Category Management, with focus on Non-Food categories in Retail.</p></li><li><p>Proven expertise in managing Household, Cleaning, Personal Care, and Grocery Non-Food products.</p></li><li><p>Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.</p></li><li><p>Excellent knowledge of BDA, trade deal structures, and <p>The Assistant Brand Manager (Brand, Trade & Sales Development) supports the development and growth of assigned FMCG brands by integrating brand strategy, trade marketing initiatives, and commercial performance management.
