Job Title: Instrumentation & Telecom Specialist
Location: Sohar, Oman
Service Status: Resident (5 days per week)
Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Telecom Specialist to join our client Commissioning and Start-up team. This role is critical in ensuring the completeness and operational readiness of instrumentation systems (including analysers, metering and tank gauging) and telecom systems during commissioning and start-up phases.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee and validate commissioning and start-up documentation for instrumentation and telecom systems.
- Monitor contractor activities, including FATs and SATs, ensuring compliance with specifications and procedures.
- Witness commissioning activities for instrumentation, telecom, tank gauging and berthing-aid systems.
- Support loop checking and commissioning phases for ICSS and package control systems.
- Validate punch list clearance and ensure proper vendor mobilization for start-up.
- Ensure preservation and maintenance of equipment during and after commissioning.
- Facilitate smooth handover to operations, including training and feedback.
- Maintain updated “as commissioned” documentation and certification of analysers.
HSE & Compliance:- Demonstrate exemplary HSE behaviour and ensure compliance with all safety regulations and procedures.
- Ensure emergency telecom systems are operational and manage telecoms during crisis situations.
Qualifications & Experience:- Master’s degree in Engineering (Instrumentation and/or Telecom).
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in Oil & Gas, with at least 10 years in similar roles.
- Proven experience in commissioning and operation stages of large onshore and LNG projects.
- Strong knowledge of telecom and instrumentation activities, commissioning, and start-up processes.
