Description:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Country Lead / General Manager to lead and oversee our operations in the [Insert Country]. This senior leadership role will be responsible for managing all aspects of the transportation and logistics business, with a focus on freight forwarding and land transport services. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing transportation and logistics operations, a deep understanding of market dynamics, and a proven track record in driving business growth.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership and Business Development:
  • Lead and execute the business strategy for the country, focusing on expanding market share, improving profitability, and ensuring operational excellence across all services, especially freight forwarding and land transport.
  • Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities, partnerships, and market trends to grow the company's presence in the local and regional logistics markets.
  • Ensure alignment between business goals and operational activities, developing both short-term and long-term growth strategies.
  1. Operational Management:
  • Oversee daily operations of freight forwarding, land transport, and other logistics services, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery to clients.
  • Manage the entire supply chain process, including transport, warehousing, customs clearance, and delivery, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Continuously assess operational workflows to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and reduce costs.
  1. Financial Management and P&L Responsibility:
  • Take full ownership of the Profit and Loss (P&L) for the country’s operations, driving profitability, cost control, and financial performance.
  • Develop and manage the budget for all departments, ensuring resources are effectively allocated to achieve business objectives.
  • Track key financial metrics, including revenue growth, cost efficiency, and profitability, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  1. Team Leadership and Development:
  • Lead, manage, and develop cross-functional teams, including sales, operations, customer service, and logistics personnel.
  • Set clear performance goals and KPIs, ensuring that all teams meet their targets and contribute to business growth.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment, focusing on team development, talent retention, and productivity.
  1. Client Relationship Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, business partners, and stakeholders in the transportation and logistics industry.
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by providing tailored solutions, resolving issues promptly, and meeting service delivery expectations.
  • Oversee customer contracts, negotiations, and renewals, ensuring the company’s offerings are competitive and aligned with customer needs.
  1. Compliance and Risk Management:
  • Ensure that all operations comply with local regulations, international trade policies, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
  • Proactively identify operational risks and implement effective mitigation strategies to ensure business continuity and minimize disruptions.
  • Ensure all freight forwarding and land transport services meet the company’s high standards of quality and regulatory compliance.
  1. Market and Competitive Analysis:
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to understand industry trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities.
  • Monitor changes in the transportation and logistics sector, adapting business strategies to remain competitive and responsive to market shifts.
  • Use data and insights to refine marketing strategies, sales approaches, and service offerings.
  1. Sales and Marketing Strategy:
  • Develop and execute sales and marketing strategies to increase market share and attract new clients for both freight forwarding and land transport services.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create effective promotional campaigns, ensuring brand visibility and customer engagement in the local market.


Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in transportation and logistics, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role such as Country Manager or General Manager.
  • Extensive experience in freight forwarding and land transport operations, with a deep understanding of the logistics industry.
  • Proven track record of managing P&L, driving business growth, and improving operational performance in a competitive market.
  • Strong knowledge of customs regulations, shipping processes, and international logistics standards.
  • Skills:
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent financial acumen, with experience in managing budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage cross-functional teams and collaborate with senior leadership.
  • Knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS), enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, and supply chain management tools.
