Manager – Private Markets

JOB PURPOSE:

To build and oversee Private Equity investment portfolio through strategy development, business development/ opportunities identification, deal execution, value creation and deal disposal strategy in order to optimize the financial return of the department.


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to the development of the Private Equity departmental strategy as cascaded down from the Private Equity Directorate’s strategy and oversee its implementation throughout the department and its operations, to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing departmental strategies across OIA.
  • Manage the Private Equity department team of direct and indirect reports through effective recruitment, development, performance management, and succession planning, in order to maximize team performance and achieve departmental objectives.
  • Manage the Private Equity department’s daily operations by providing expertise, enabling teamwork, and aligning processes, in order to achieve high performance standards and meet established targets.
  • Manage the development and consolidation of the Private Equity departmental budget and monitor its financial performance versus the budget, to ensure the exercising of financial authority within established limits and the control of sectional budget expenditure.
  • Manage the Identification of new potential business opportunities in Private Equity and evaluate them against the business strategy from a strategic, commercial, financial, operational and technical perspective to enable an informed decision-making process with the concerned stakeholders.
  • Manage Private Equity appropriate due diligence (commercial, financial, tax, valuation) to validate value drivers, verify risks / mitigants, develop appropriate deal structure and valuation.
  • Manage Private Equity’s transaction closing process including appropriate legal documentation and management of deal budget to ensure that the commercial intention of the transaction is appropriately reflected in the legal documents and consequently minimize risks.
  • Manage Private Equity portfolio performance monitoring to ensure alignment with original business plans and keep key stakeholders informed on an ongoing basis.
  • Manage effective governance of the Private Equity portfolio through continuous engagement with OIA’s designated representatives on the board to maintain an effective asset management.
  • Manage the identification and implementation of Private Equity value creation initiatives to ensure sustainability of the investment.
  • Manage the Identification and execution of suitable monetization opportunities for the Private Equity portfolio to enhance its value
  • Manage the reviews and quality assurance of the Private Equity department’s work and reports in accordance with established policies and procedures to optimize process improvement and discuss recommendations
  • Review and ensure the proper execution of due diligence studies related to the Private Equity department to assist the Private Equity directorate in making well-informed decisions.
  • Ensure that all the technological needs of the Private Equity department are identified to maintain and secure the integrity of business development data/information.
  • Manage the development, implementation and communication of the Private Equity department’s policies and procedures to ensure that all relevant procedural and legislative requirements are clearly communicated and duly fulfilled.
  • Manage the Private Equity departmental compliance to all relevant health, safety, and quality requirements, in order to guarantee employee safety and legislative compliance.
  • Manage the contribution to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account ‘leading best practices’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree Specialization in Finance, Business Management, Economics, Accounting, or any other relevant field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • CFA, CMA, CPA, FMVA, FRM is advantageous.
  • 11 to 13 years of relevant experience with minimum 4 years in a managerial role.
  • Fluency in English is essential.
  • Proficiency in MS Office is essential (especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with business related software is desirable.
