Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA)

Faculty of Transport and Logistics

(Specializations: Transport Management, Logistics and Supply Chain
Management, Port and Maritime Logistics, Aviation Management, Transport
Planning, Operations Management, and related fields)

Job Summary:

This is a teaching support-focused position to assist in the
delivery of undergraduate, practical-based programmes within the Faculty of
Transport and Logistics.

Applicants should demonstrate strong academic ability and an
interest in teaching, mentoring, and student support. The successful candidate
is expected to:

  • Support
    Teaching Activities:
    Assist in delivering tutorials, practical
    sessions, workshops, and seminars across transport and logistics-related
    modules.
  • Assist
    in Practical Sessions:
    Provide hands-on support during practical,
    simulation, case study, and technical sessions to ensure students
    understand key concepts, processes, and tools.
  • Support
    Student Learning:
    Guide students in understanding concepts related to
    transport systems, logistics operations, supply chain management,
    transportation planning, inventory management, warehousing, procurement,
    and related areas.
  • Assist
    in Assessment:
    Support marking of assignments, quizzes, case studies,
    reports, and coursework under supervision, ensuring timely and
    constructive feedback.
  • Prepare
    Learning Materials:
    Assist in preparing teaching resources,
    presentations, case studies, datasets, practical exercises, and
    laboratory/simulation materials.
  • Support
    Academic Delivery:
    Help ensure smooth delivery of modules by
    coordinating with lecturers, technical staff, and other academic support
    teams.
  • Engage
    in Academic Development:
    Develop teaching, research, analytical, and
    professional expertise while contributing to a high-quality learning
    environment.
  • Administrative
    Support:
    Assist with attendance tracking, documentation, student
    records, assessment administration, and coordination of academic
    activities.

Requirements:

The Faculty invites applications from suitable candidates
for GTA positions. The role requires:

  • Educational
    Qualifications:
    A Bachelor or Master degree in Transport and
    Logistics, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Transport Management,
    Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Maritime/Port Management,
    Aviation Management, Transport Planning, or a related field.
  • Subject
    Knowledge:
    Knowledge in one or more of the following:
    • Transport
      Management and Operations
    • Logistics
      and Supply Chain Management
    • Transportation
      Planning and Systems
    • Procurement
      and Inventory Management
    • Warehousing
      and Distribution
    • Port
      and Maritime Logistics
    • Aviation
      and Airport
  • Academic
    Performance:
    Good academic standing with a strong GPA.
  • Technical
    and Analytical Skills:
    • Microsoft
      Excel and other data analysis tools
    • Quantitative
      and statistical analysis
    • Transport
      and logistics planning tools, where applicable
    • Supply
      chain and logistics information systems
    • Transport
      modelling and simulation tools, where applicable
    • Familiarity
      with ERP, warehouse management, transport management, or fleet management
      systems is desirable
    • Knowledge
      of data visualization and analytical techniques
  • Teaching
    Interest:
    Demonstrated interest in teaching, mentoring, tutoring, or
    academic support.
  • Practical
    Skills:
    Practical knowledge relevant to transport, logistics, supply
    chain, operations, maritime, aviation, or related disciplines.
  • Communication
    Skills:
    Ability to explain transport and logistics concepts clearly
    and effectively to students.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with faculty members, students, technical
    staff, and industry partners.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and support different modules, programmes, and
    practical activities as required.

Responsibilities

  • Support
    tutorials, practical sessions, workshops, and seminars across Transport
    and Logistics-related modules.
  • Assist
    students with transport management, logistics operations, supply chain
    management, procurement, inventory management, warehousing, distribution,
    and transportation planning.
  • Help
    students understand key concepts such as transport systems, logistics
    networks, supply chain design, demand forecasting, inventory control,
    operations management, and performance measurement.
  • Assist
    in preparing practical exercises, case studies, datasets, simulations,
    presentations, and other teaching resources.
  • Support
    the use of relevant transport, logistics, analytical, and simulation
    software during practical and teaching sessions.
  • Support
    marking of assignments, case studies, reports, quizzes, projects, and
    practical assessments under supervision.
