MITIGATION OF INDUSTERIAL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM'S PROBLEMS
(CORRECTION OF POWER FACTOR & SOLVING POWER QUALITY PROBLEMS)
• Have an overview about the most common problems that appear in Industrial Distribution Systems including: Low Power Factor, presence of Voltage sags / under voltage, and presence of high levels of Harmonics.
• Background about The harmonics’ effects on power system apparatus.
• Hardware setup for an Industrial Distribution System that suffers from low power factor and Power Quality problems {ex. Harmonics…}.
This setup consists of:
- Three phase induction motor with Variable speed Drive (ALTIVAR31) to simulate the harmonics generator.
-Different types of lamps (Led, fluorescent, Compact fluorescent, and Halogen).
- Computer.
• Accurately designing solution for these problems using VARLOGIC NR6 as Power Factor controller with number of capacitor steps and Passive filter with detuned Reactor.
• Design a GUI three phase software program to calculate the size of passive filter required to correct the power factor ,according to the standard values available of Capacitor bank , and to mitigate the most serious harmonic exist in the system.
• Have the ability of using HARMONIC ANALYZER
• VARLOGIC NR6, ALTIVAR31, and CONTACTORS are gift from Schneider Electric Company.
