Job description
1. Inspection & Quality Control
- Supervise and monitor coating activities including surface preparation, painting, and final coating.
- Ensure compliance with approved ITP (Inspection & Test Plan) and project specifications.
- Conduct inspections for:
- Surface preparation (blasting, cleanliness – SA 2.5 / SA 3)
- Profile measurement (anchor profile)
- Coating thickness (DFT/WFT)
- Holiday testing
- Adhesion testing
- Verify environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) before and during coating.
2. Standards & Compliance- Ensure coatings comply with standards such as:
- ISO 12944
- NACE / SSPC
- ASTM standards
- Project-specific coating specifications
- Ensure correct paint systems are applied (e.g., epoxy, polyurethane, anti-corrosion coatings).
3. Documentation & Reporting- Maintain and review coating inspection reports.
- Record daily inspection reports (DIRs) and test results.
- Validate paint batch certificates and material approvals.
- Ensure traceability of coating materials.
- Support preparation of final QC dossiers.
4. Material Control- Verify storage and handling of coating materials as per manufacturer recommendations.
- Check shelf life and batch numbers of paints.
- Ensure correct mixing ratios and application procedures.
5. Coordination- Coordinate with:
- Production/Construction teams
- Client inspectors
- Third-party inspectors
- Attend inspection requests (IRs) and witness hold points with client.
6. NCR & Corrective Actions- Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for deviations.
- Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Monitor rework activities and closure of NCRs.
7. Safety & Compliance- Ensure coating activities follow HSE guidelines.
- Monitor safe handling of chemicals, paints, and solvents.
- Promote safe work practices in blasting and painting operations.
Qualifications & Experience:Education:- Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Corrosion Engineering
Certifications (Preferred/Required):- NACE Level II / III or
- BGAS / ICorr or
- SSPC Certification
Experience:- 5–10 years in coating inspection, preferably in:
- Offshore platforms
- Oil & Gas fabrication yards
- EPC projects
Skills & Competencies:- Strong knowledge of surface preparation and coating techniques
- Familiarity with offshore coating systems and corrosion protection
- Good understanding of international codes and standards
- Strong documentation and reporting skills
- Ability to interact with clients and third-party inspectors
- Attention to detail and quality-focused mindset
