Qualifications&Abilities
- Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunication, Instrumentation, IT, or related field.
- Experience in industrial systems, automation, or BHS operations is preferred.
- Strong understanding of SCADA systems and control room operations.
- Good knowledge of conveyor systems and material handling processes.
- Ability to analyze system faults and make quick operational decisions.
- Strong communication skills (English – reading, writing, speaking).
- High level of attention to detail, especially in reporting and logging.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in computer systems and reporting tools.
- Ability to read and interpret system layouts and technical drawings.
- Understanding of system restart implications and operational risks.
- Knowledge of system balancing, routing logic, and fallback procedures.
- Capability to manage multiple system interfaces simultaneously.
KeyResponsibilities
- Continuously monitor BHS operations through SCADA systems, ensuring smooth and efficient baggage flow.
- Identify system abnormalities, alarms, and performance issues in real time and take immediate action.
- Control and adjust system configurations, routing, and conveyor logic to maintain operational continuity.
- Monitor system balancing, line utilization, and flow distribution to avoid congestion and delays.
- Respond immediately to all SCADA alarms and system alerts.
- Accurately record all alarms, faults, and operational events in the SCADA logbook without exception.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of log entries to support daily operational reporting.
- Escalate critical alarms and unresolved issues promptly to Shift Leaders and relevant teams.
- Dispatch maintenance personnel through radio communication with clear and precise instructions.
- Maintain continuous communication with Flow Controllers, technicians, Duty Managers, and airport stakeholders.
- Use public communication channels (e.g., TETRA) to ensure operational visibility and transparency.
- Coordinate with Customer staff when required.
- Make real-time operational decisions to maintain system availability and minimize disruption.
- Initiate and coordinate fallback procedures when required (e.g., alternative routing, fallback tags, system isolation).
- Ensure no unauthorized system changes or manual interventions are performed without proper coordination.
- Manage priority handling for critical flights, rush bags, and operational constraints.
- Prepare accurate daily operational reports reflecting all system activities, incidents, and alarms.
- Ensure all reports shared with the shift leader are complete, consistent, and factually correct.
- Track and follow up on service calls, faults, and technical issues.
- Execute and verify daily system start-up procedures using approved checklists.
- Ensure system readiness before operational hours.
- Coordinate and implement configuration changes for maintenance activities or system bypass.
- Validate system performance after restart or configuration changes.
- Support maintenance teams by providing accurate system data, alarm history, and fault analysis.
- Assist in troubleshooting by identifying fault patterns and recurring issues.
- Monitor maintenance activities and ensure safe system interaction.
- Ensure all SCADA operations comply with safety standards and operational procedures.
- Follow Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) requirements during maintenance coordination.
- Identify and report any unsafe system conditions or operational risks.
- Maintain high level of concentration and situational awareness at all times.
- Ensure punctuality, discipline, and adherence to shift responsibilities.
- Act professionally in all communications with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and suggest system or process enhancements.
- Available for extra shifts whenever required.
