Roles & Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE:

  • The Technical Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective technical operation of assigned vessels. This includes overseeing maintenance, repairs, and compliance with statutory, class, and company requirements. The role ensures vessels remain technically reliable and operationally ready through continuous monitoring and improvement of performance and safety standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Planning: Analyze project needs and technical requirements to maintain equipment condition and take corrective actions when required.
  • Coordination: Manage activities to ensure vessel compliance with QHSES (Quality, Health, Safety, Environment, and Security) standards.
  • Design & Commissioning: Assist in the design of project equipment and ensure new technical assets are fully compliant with specifications before operation.
  • Asset Performance: Monitor and evaluate technical deficiencies, suggesting and implementing improvements for maintenance and repair.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Organize permanent maintenance, prepare repair specifications, and ensure follow-up of execution for all technical assets.
  • Logistics & Inventory: Manage spare part inventory levels by analyzing criticality and coordinating logistics to prevent operational downtime.
  • Knowledge Management: Maintain high-level technical expertise and teach basic maintenance tasks to the crew to bridge knowledge gaps.
  • Reporting: Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports to the Vessel Manager and project management teams.

QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Qualification:

  • Bachelor s degree in Logistics, Engineering, Ports Management, or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the capacity of Superintendent or similar.

Skills:

  • Problem Solving: Proactively signals logistical hiccups and collaborates to solve complex technical issues.
  • Teamwork & Cooperation: Values others input and shares best practices so that others may benefit.
  • Initiative: Recognizes and reacts appropriately to current problems by seeing the bigger picture.
  • Software: Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Communication: Ability to draft structured, clear emails and take initiative in stakeholder communication.

Internal:

  • Vessel Manager, Project Management, QHSES team, and Vessel Crew.

External:

  • Government authorities.
