Job description

The Assistant Broiler Manager is responsible for supporting the Broiler Manager in the overall management and supervision of broiler farm operations to ensure the achievement of production targets in line with required standards, including bird welfare, weight, and quality specifications.


Key Roles and Responsibilities:


Policies & Procedures

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of departmental policies and procedures to support operational objectives.
  • Ensure compliance of broiler farm employees with company guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Broiler Operations

  • Support the management of environmental conditions within broiler houses, including ventilation, heating, feed, water, litter, and lighting, ensuring optimal conditions for bird growth and welfare.
  • Ensure broiler houses are properly prepared to receive day-old chicks from the hatchery and supplier.
  • Assist in planning and monitoring daily operational schedules for live bird processing and ensure adherence by farm teams.
  • Supervise broiler growing practices across farms, monitor flock progress, and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
  • Ensure proper cleaning, setup, and maintenance of broiler houses, including waste management, water disposal, and pest control measures.
  • Coordinate with the Feed Mill department to ensure timely availability of required feed types and escalate shortages when needed.
  • Supervise farm teams to ensure proper feeding, watering, and ventilation programs are followed.
  • Monitor and analyze mortality rates and ensure compliance with relevant governmental and industry regulations in poultry handling.
  • Maintain strict biosecurity standards across all farm operations, ensuring all personnel comply with biosecurity protocols and sanitation procedures.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the line manager related to farm operations.

People Management

  • Conduct performance appraisals for subordinates and provide constructive feedback.
  • Support training and development initiatives and report progress to the line manager.
  • Participate in recruitment, selection, and evaluation processes for farm staff.
  • Manage leave planning and ensure adequate staffing coverage during employee absences.

Reporting

  • Prepare and submit periodic operational reports related to broiler farm performance to the line manager.

Skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Poultry Science or a related field.
  • Minimum 6–8 years of experience in large broiler or poultry farm operations.
