Electrical Supervisor
Location: Oman (onshore) transitioning to Qatar (offshore)
Employment Type: 2-year Contract, Full-time
Overview
A leading oil and gas major project organisation is seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor to oversee electrical installation, commissioning, and start-up activities for onshore and offshore facilities. The role includes supervising electrical technicians, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and supporting operational readiness for first oil.
Key Responsibilities
Onshore (Construction/Yard Phase)
Review operational and project documentation
Compare 3D models with actual construction on site
Support equipment FATs/SATs and operational testing procedures
Raise and track punch lists for deviations, accessibility, and operability issues
Supervise commissioning activities including loop and function tests
Prepare start-up procedures and ensure readiness for operations
Support and supervise ATEX inspection activities for electrical, instrumentation, and control equipment
Offshore (Commissioning/Start-up Phase)
Assist the production team during commissioning and first oil start-up
Ensure field operations crew understand procedures and start-up sequence
Act as discipline advisor for electrical systems, supporting the Major Project team
Review and approve all discipline-related punch close-outs
Monitor installation works to ensure compliance with project and regulatory standards
Witness operational tests and liaise with commissioning and field teams
Support risk assessments, pre-startup safety reviews, and HAZID/HAZOP activities
Maintain up-to-date “red line mark-up” P&IDs and ensure key project documentation is available for the field team
Ensure preventive maintenance of new electrical systems in line with operational requirements
Provide training and support to base operations for familiarisation with new facilities
Escalate issues to Field Operations Lead or Offshore Team Leader as necessary
Qualifications & Experience
Higher National Diploma or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field
Minimum 10 years’ experience in electrical and instrumentation roles within offshore operations
Proven offshore experience in production, commissioning, and start-up activities
Knowledge of electrical safety, ATEX certification, and offshore operation standards
Experience supervising technical teams and coordinating with multi-discipline contractors
Ability to work independently and under pressure during critical start-up operations
Fluent in English, both written and spoken
Willingness to work flexible and extended offshore rotations
Certifications & Training
Basic firefighting
T-BOSIET and H2S OPITO-approved training
Permit to Work (PTW) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) awareness
COMPEX certification
High Voltage Electrical competence/certification
Lifting, rigging, and manual handling training
Radiation protection awareness
Hazard & energy control, Lockout & Tagout awareness
