Position title: Systems Administrator

Department: Information Technology Department

Reporting to: Director of Information Technology Department


Job Purpose:

The Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization’s systems, ensuring they run efficiently, securely, and meet the needs of the business. This role also involves handling SQL databases, generating reports, and providing data analysis support. The Systems Administrator will collaborate closely with the ITS Director to ensure systems are optimized and aligned with the organization’s strategic goals while providing technical support across departments.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer and manage all organizational systems, ensuring proper configuration and
  • smooth operations.
  • Install, configure, and update systems as required, ensuring they are functioning optimally.
  • Conduct regular health checks and maintenance to address potential issues before they
  • impact users.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing agreements and maintain relevant documentation.
  • Monitor system performance and resolve technical issues to minimize disruption to business operations.

SQL Database Management:

  • Oversee the management of SQL databases, ensuring data integrity and optimal
  • performance.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction, manipulation, and reporting purposes.
  • Perform database updates, data migrations, and troubleshoot SQL-related issues as needed.
  • Work with development teams to integrate SQL databases with existing systems and ensure
  • compatibility.
  • Regularly back up SQL databases and ensure data is secure and recoverable in case of failure.

Reports Generation and Data Analysis:

  • Generate regular and ad-hoc reports for management and departments using SQL and other reporting tools.
  • Analyze system data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the ITS Director and department heads to provide insights that support
  • informed decision-making.
  • Develop custom reports tailored to the needs of various departments, ensuring data
  • accuracy and relevance.
  • Present data findings in clear, actionable formats to support operational efficiency and
  • business growth.
  • Provide end-user support for system-related issues, troubleshooting and resolving problems promptly.
  • Assist users with system access, permissions, and application management.
  • Work with external vendors to resolve complex issues beyond internal capabilities.
  • Implement updates, patches, and enhancements to improve system functionality and security.
  • Continuously evaluate system performance and suggest improvements to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Implement new features and upgrades as needed while ensuring compatibility with other systems.
  • Data Integrity and System Integration:
  • Ensure systems and databases are integrated effectively to streamline workflows and
  • improve data sharing.
  • Manage data migrations during system upgrades or transitions, ensuring minimal data loss and business disruption.
  • Oversee the accuracy and integrity of data stored across systems and databases.
  • Work with department heads to understand their system needs and propose appropriate solutions.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for system updates, troubleshooting, and new features.
  • Collaborate closely with the ITS Director to align all systems and data initiatives with organizational goals.
  • User Training and Documentation:
  • Provide training to staff on systems, databases, and reporting tools, ensuring effective usage.
  • Maintain clear documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Develop user manuals and training materials to support users in their day-to-day activities.
  • Compliance and Security:
  • Ensure systems and databases comply with relevant regulations, industry standards, and internal policies.
  • Implement security protocols to protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with policies and ensure that data is securely stored and managed.


Qualification professional knowledge and skills:

  1. Bachelor / Diploma degree in Computer Science or Information Technology fields or
  2. related fields.
  3. Minimum 3 years Prior experience working in Higher Education
  4. Proficiency in both English and Arabic is required, with the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in both languages.
