Group Financial Controller

The Purpose of the Role

The Financial Controller will oversee and manage the financial operations and accounting practices of the group, which operates in real estate leasing, facility management, hotels and restaurants operated by various operators and lessees. This role is critical in providing financial leadership, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and supporting strategic decisions through comprehensive financial reporting and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management and Reporting:

  • Oversee the preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, reports to shareholders, reports to investors, income tax and VAT management, and reports for government regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Analyse financial data to identify trends, perform variance analysis, and provide recommendations to improve financial performance.

ERP Implementation and Management:

  • Lead the implementation of the ERP software system within the company to streamline financial operations and enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Serve as the project manager for the ERP implementation project, coordinating with IT, external consultants, and various department heads to ensure a seamless integration process.
  • Develop and oversee training programs for Accounts Department staff and other users to ensure effective use of the new system.
  • Manage the migration of current financial data into the ERP system, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Continuously assess and optimize the ERP setup to align with evolving business needs and financial practices.
  • Ensure that ERP systems are compliant with all regulatory financial guidelines and company policies.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with the strategic objectives of the group.
  • Monitor budget variances and provide financial forecasts to assist management in decision-making processes.

Internal Controls and Compliance:

  • Develop and maintain internal control policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of all financial transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with government reporting requirements and tax filings.

Cash Flow Management:

  • Manage the Group's cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability.
  • Oversee the cash, investment, and asset management area.

Operational Support:

  • Work closely with property managers and leasing departments to ensure financial strategies and decisions are aligned with operational activities.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support various contract negotiations and decisions.

Audit and Risk Management:

  • Coordinate with external auditors during audits and ensure the preparation of required materials.
  • Assess and manage the financial risks associated with the operations of real estate, hotel, and restaurant portfolios.

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Manage and supervise the accounts team, setting goals, performing evaluations, and developing staff.
  • Foster a culture of financial awareness and accountability across the company.

Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Master’s degree or professional qualification is preferred.
  • 20 years of experience including proven experience as a Financial Controller, Director of Accounts, or similar role of 10 years specifically in the real estate & hospitality sector.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and other applicable standards specific to real estate and hospitality management.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and management skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software (SAP & Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
