Central Bank of Oman is seeking to recruit competent, committed, self-motivated and enthusiastic Omani candidate to work as Senior Banking Analyst

Purpose:

Responsible for assisting Manager Licensing Department in discharging regulatory and supervisory role of the Central Bank of Oman under the Banking Law.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Conduct feasibility studies on establishment of new banking/non-banking institutions, viability, potential risks, and prospective financial outcomes.
• Evaluating the requests for establishment of new commercial banks including Islamic Banking Entities, specialized banks, Finance and Leasing Companies, Money Exchange Establishments, Payment Service Providers
• Evaluating requests for establishment of overseas branches, representative offices
• Processing of proposals from banks and non-banks for establishment of new branches and other outlets.
• Matters arising from reconstitution (change in shareholding), merger, consolidation, takeover, liquidation and dissolution of banks and non-banks
• Preparing internal memoranda and papers to the Board of Governors and Executive Management and collating data on banking and related matters for presentation to higher management
• Drafting of communications, directives, circulars/ instructions to licensed institutions relevant to licensing, evolving from time to time
• Providing operational oversight assistance on review and compliance of banking-related issues.
• Reviewing the requests for approval of new products and services
• Preparing the Systems & Procedures for the Licensing Department.
• Processing other approvals required under CBO laws, regulations, instructions and guidelines
• Correspondence with licensed institutions on matters related to their activities, processing their queries for response and providing necessary guidance.
• Preparing inputs for Examination of licensed institutions,
• Any other role relating to the operations of the Licensing Department, as assigned by CBO Management.

Position Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in economics, Commerce or professional qualifications in Accounting or Finance.

Minimum experience: 5 years of relevant experience of banking/related field and regulatory/supervisory aspects.
