Control Room Operators
Role and Responsibilities
Mine control room operators are responsible for monitoring mining operations through electronic systems, including screens, dials, and lights that represent various processes in the mine. They adjust operational variables, communicate with different departments, and take immediate action in case of irregularities or emergencies. Key tasks include:
Scada, PLC, HMI and CCTV monitoring
compliance
Production
Participating in hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures.
Blasting clearance and procedures
Work Environment
Long periods in office / control room
Sitting for long periods
Screens and sirens
Work hours 8 to12 hour shifts.
Shifts will cycle between morning, afternoon and night.
No FIFO – Only expat with residency/Oman citizen with annual leave as per contract
Desired Candidate Profile
Skills and Qualifications
Excellent communication in English (Hindi will be an advantage), to be able to communicate and coordinate with various departments and management levels.
Experience and firm knowledge of technical as well as and practical mining operations, engineering
Prior control room experience of 2 years – 5 years
Basic computer proficiency
Problem-solving and decision-making skills for handling emergencies.
Compliance with safety standards and pre-employment checks, including medical,
drug testing and police clearance
calm and relaxed under pressure
Controller must record, distribute, and file information diligently.
Controller must be able to retrieve detailed information from reporting people to ensure correct and detailed information is communicated and recorded.
Technical or instrumentation background and the ability to learn new systems and procedures
