Accountable to the Senior Pilot/Mentor Pilot and Harbour Masters in achieving a thorough knowledgeof the Key Accountabilities of a licensed pilot after the approved training period and through whatevercourses and training schedule is expected of him, i.e.
Marine Operations: How to;
§Act as the Port Authorities representative and ensure that all pilotage is carried out with due regard and act as a
liaison officer
between the Port Authority and the Ship's Master while on board.§Assist
in the control of port traffic by advising vessels where to enter the channel
and when and where to expectthepilottoboardwhilemonitoringefficientoperationsofradioandelectronicequipmenttocommunicatedirectly with ships or other
maritime stations to ensure smooth traffic flow.
§Assist with the coordination of all
arrangements for vessels arriving, anchoring, berthing, unberthing, shifting
shipand departing while
ensuring timely completion of relevant pilotage documentation and accurate
provision ofinformation for charging.
Conduct timely observation of all port
operations, requesting dispatch of tugs, mooring boats and mooring crew.
§Ensure timely provision of advice during
inclement weather to Ship's Masters of suitable anchorage positions andsuitable
berthing arrangements in line with safety standards and Port Regulations.
§Conduct accurate allocation of berths to
vessels in line with defined guidelines.
§InitiateanEmergencyResponseandprovidesupportduringemergenciesandmaritimerescueoperationstoassure
optimum protection of all resources.

RequirementsMinimum Qualification

§Physically fit to carry out his duties in a 24/7 roster. (Pass the MOTC approved Seafarer Medical Exam)
