Job Description:
- Lead and supervise operational activities for a dedicated team of shift workers, including Terminal Clerks, Tallymen, equipment and crane operators, and stevedores.
- Take full responsibility for a specific cargo operation at any given time, including but not limited to:
- Vessel and truck loading, discharging, and shifting
- Container stuffing and stripping
- Yard and vessel stacking operations
- Ensure operations are carried out efficiently, safely, and in compliance with terminal procedures and operational plans.
- Act as the primary point of contact during the shift for operational coordination and issue resolution.
- Report any major operational, safety, or equipment-related issues to Terminal Management in a timely manner.
- Act as the Safety Champion during the shift, ensuring all container operations comply with HSSE policies, procedures, and standards.
- Serve as the HSSE focal point for all operational activities during the assigned shift.
- Ensure all team members adhere to safety rules, use required PPE, and follow safe working practices.
- Carry out any other duties or tasks as assigned by Terminal Management.
Skills
Skills & Requirements:
- Proven experience in terminal, port, or cargo operations, preferably in a supervisory or foreman role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple operational roles simultaneously.
- Good knowledge of container terminal operations, including vessel, yard, and trucking activities.
- Strong awareness of HSSE requirements and the ability to enforce safety standards on shift.
- Ability to identify operational risks and take corrective actions promptly.
- Good command of the English language, with clear communication skills in:
- Reading
- Writing
- Speaking
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Flexibility to work shifts and respond to operational demands as required.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in port, terminal, or cargo operations.
- Previous experience in a Foreman, Supervisor, or similar operational leadership role is preferred.
- Hands-on experience in container terminal operations, including vessel, yard, and truck activities.
- Familiarity with HSSE standards and safe working practices in terminal operations.
- Relevant technical or vocational qualification in port operations or logistics is an advantage.
