Head of Financial Operations

This role contributes to the Finance Services operational strategy by defining the policy and administration of Service Level Agreements (SLAs), ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all financial transactions, and maintaining and monitoring controls within the process, including the payroll function. To lead and manage a team of finance professionals providing centralised finance operations service including finance transactional processing for multiple business units in a shared services environment, with duties which include but not limited to, maintaining financial statements/records, payments and ensuring accuracy and the maintenance of appropriate procedures where necessary. Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

  • Manage assigned staff at the level determined by senior management.
  • Hold accountability for creating, developing and implementing strategic decisions within the financial operations function, supporting senior leaders in the preparation, verification and analysis of accounts payables/receivables, fixed assets, inventories and other financial accounting transactions.
  • Lead processing, recording, classification, consolidation and interpretation of Vodafone Oman financials.
  • Demonstrate a broad and comprehensive understanding of theories and practices across the transactional processing spectrum, and leading operations and activities of the accounting function, planning, organising and coordinating activities to ensure accurate and timely delivery of processing;
  • Manages the Financial Operation team to ensure that they deliver payment of vendor invoices, post customer payments, maintain financial statements/records, and calculate commission plan payments;
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in order to deliver Vodafone transactional processing including the liaison with Banks and any outside authorities regarding payroll policies or payment legislation;
  • Uses evaluative judgement to resolve complex or innovative challenges across tariff structures, business transactions and customer billing areas;
  • Leads and manages internal negotiations at a senior level, and actively participates in the development of transactional processing improvements and current architecture of financial information systems;
  • Hold accountability for the budget/finances of rea.
  • Lead the external audit process with the assigned auditor firm.
  • Undertake similar or related duties as directed by Senior management for business use.



Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

  • Minimum 12 years’ experience in the Finance domain with a significant exposure to Financial Operations.
  • Understanding of Vodafone’s interpretations of IFRS & associated financial standards and apply the same to complex business events.
  • Regulations maintenance: Ensures IFRS standards updates are kept current & proactively manages the impact of any upcoming/ future plan changes.
  • Business Model impact: Clear understanding of all the different lines of business and their financial statement affect.
  • Substantial experience in stakeholder management at senior level, presenting to Exco level stakeholders, managing complex stakeholder relationships
  • Demonstrate excellent Financial Reporting skills and experience.
  • International experience across different cultures., ideally experience of having lived and worked in Oman (or in the Gulf) region and at least one other region.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Excellent Written and spoken Arabic.
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Good negotiating skills
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Finance Operations function including people, systems, policies, process and procedures in place.
  • Procedures and controls ensuring oversight and control of company assets and liquidities.
  • ERP platform and integrated Finance, SCM and HR processes.
  • Company accounting policies and procedures compliant with statutory laws, accurate financial reporting and clean audits



Must have technical / professional qualifications:

  • University degree in Finance or a related subject.
  • CIMA / ACCA or equivalent qualified
