Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanateof Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gassupply.

Purpose of the Job

Carry out Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning and Start-Up Execution activities related to field instrumentation and control systems for multiple concurrent small to medium scale projects or ring fenced medium to large scale projects, to ensure proper transition from construction, through pre-commissioning, start up, initial operation and into steady-state operation.

This is an interior-based role performed on a rotational roster with a back-to-back counterpart.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree level qualification in engineering discipline (Electronics, Control & Automation, Electrical) or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in oil and gas industry experience including front-line supervisory roles for maintenance and/or commissioning.
  • Experience in maintenance, installation, and field commissioning activities for field instrumentation and control & automation systems, etc. Experience in ‘sour’ operations is desired.
  • Previous experience in small, medium, and large projects, on live installation is essential,
  • Performed in commissioning or maintenance role, participating, and executing activities in projects for Construction, Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning and Start-Up phases.
  • Experience in installation, testing, maintenance and troubleshooting field instrumentation for flow, pressure, level, temperature, fire & gas, vibration, control valves, QMI.
  • Experience in pre-commissioning, commissioning, operations, and corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting for field instrumentation with fieldbus, HART, wireless communication protocols, PLC, SCADA, tank gauging, custody transfer DCS, IPS/ / FCS, F&G, Condition monitoring, analysers, electrical supply AC UPS, DC UPS, cables, and earthing system, etc.

Main Responsibilities

People

  • Contribute to resource estimates and plans for field commissioning execution activities.
  • Coach and support more junior commissioning staff in line with discipline practices and requirements.
  • Liaise with asset the operations organisation to ensure their sufficient and timely and input to commissioning and start up activities.
  • Role modelling the continuous improvement ways of working and problem solving.

Process

  • Execute commissioning activities of assigned projects, in accordance with HSE, Electrical Safety Rules, AI-PSM requirements, Company standards and project schedule.
  • Review and comments from discipline point of view pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, P2A / handover procedures, plant operating manual, vendor documentation
  • Provide input and support multi-disciplinary activities as part of site execution and completion process including scheduling, troubleshooting of equipment, units and facility operation, RCA and problem solving.
  • Provide input to, and support implementation of project Risk Management, HSE and Quality Plans for site execution activities.
  • Identifies hazards and associated risk related to discipline pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up activities and participate in risk assessment(s), special attention for integration and testing with existing live systems.
  • Retrieve and verifies project specific documents and drawings required for inspection and testing of field instruments and control & automation systems, i.e., DCS, IPS/FCS, machine conditioning & monitoring, fire & gas, QMI, etc.
  • Prepare PI and Nibras tag data for configuration.
  • Monitor installation, construction activities ensuring compliance with drawings, project specifications, PDO standards, relevant engineering design practice, international standards, and vendor / manufacturer documentation.
  • Supervise, witness and accepts pre-commissioning activities, in accordance with discipline, HSE requirements, Electrical Safety Rules, PtW, work instruction, method statements, procedures and manufacturer’s work instructions or procedures. As instructed and required executes pre-commissioning activities that may include the following but are not limited to:
  • Supervise and witness field instrumentation calibration, receipt verification and bench checks of instruments.
  • Inspects field instrumentation installation, wiring, panels, etc. against design documentation and drawings.
