Chief Commercial Officer

Role Purpose:

The Chief Commercial Officer reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is accountable for Oman Airport’s commercial strategy development as well as identifying areas of development for the company’s portfolio in order to drive business growth, market share and stakeholder satisfaction. Oman Airport is seeking someone who takes ownership of the customer and the customer interface with the product or service offering, making sure that all functions of the organization are aligned to meet its strategic and commercial objectives. Leads and manages the commercial concessions, aviation development, free zone and business performance and analytics functions.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement a profitable commercial strategy to drive / enhance revenues across all airports.
  • Lead the commercial activity for Oman airport’s aeronautical and non-aeronautical income including airline marketing and real estate development in order to maximise business opportunities.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to attract new airline operators to Oman and increase the frequency of existing airlines in order to increase revenue.
  • Implement the strategic development of Oman Airport’s real estate portfolio embracing the “Airport City” concept in order to maximise property related income.
  • Oversee planning and development of real estate developments to ensure Oman airports revenue is maximised.
  • Oversee the negotiations and renewal of contracts for airport tenants and concessionaires to ensure the Company’s commercial interests are safeguarded.
  • Identify and implement aviation route development opportunities to maximise aeronautical business for all Oman airports.
  • Develop and monitor budget for the commercial division and investigate any variance.
  • Review and improve retail strategies to ensure Oman airports create a world class shopping experience.
  • Identify opportunities and take necessary actions to maximise airport advertising revenue opportunities.
  • Analyse and interpret market trends to facilitate commercial planning for Oman airports.
  • Liaise with the Procurement & Contracts Team for negotiation and renewal of commercial contracts.
  • Keep abreast with industry best practices and changes in legislation to ensure all commercial policies and procedures are up to date and relevant.
  • Set and agree individual goals for all direct reports and evaluate individual performance, providing regular feedback and coaching in line with good people management practices.


Role Requirements:

  • Omani National
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or a relevant discipline. An MBA is preferred.
  • Ideally 15 years of experience with 7 years of experience in commercial leadership.
  • Experience in solution-selling to relevant stakeholders.
  • Experience of growing airport retail operations in new and owned regions.
  • Track record of managing, optimizing and contributing to the sales infrastructure and processes to support growth (for example compensation plans, onboarding programs, skills development incentives, account planning strategies).
  • Proven track record of building effective go-to-market strategies.
  • Experience is managing board relations and expectations.
