Client is a well-known service-based company in the oil & gas sector in Oman, and they have been in operation for more than 20 years. They also provide the highest quality of mechanical and instrumentation equipment to oil fields, from some top manufacturers.


Candidate preference would be a current resident of Oman, however, if the candidate is not, the company would still prefer that he has experience dealing with banks in Oman.


Overview

Financial Controller will oversee all company financial activities to ensure it stays in strong financial standing. The main duties include building revenue reports, distributing calculated funds to various departments and implementing company financial policies.


The goal is to guide the company toward profitability and long-term success


Duties and Responsibilities

A Financial Controller makes high-level decisions regarding a business’s health, leaving details for the finance and accounting departments. Duties and responsibilities include:


  • Drive the financial planning of the company by analyzing its performance and risks.
  • Retain constant awareness of the company’s financial position and act to prevent problems.
  • Set up and oversee the company’s financial IT system.
  • Set targets for and supervise all accounting and finance personnel (management accountants, internal auditors etc.).
  • Oversee all audit and internal control operations.
  • Develop the corporate fundraising strategy and manage relationships with partners and investors.
  • Prepare timely and detailed reports on financial performance on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Conduct analysis to make forecasts and report to upper executives.
  • Ensure adherence to financial laws and guidelines.
  • Make sound investment decisions to increase a company’s portfolio.
  • Prepare and outline complex models into simple terms that others can work with.
  • Monitor the performance of investments including creating reports using business software.
  • Analyze trends to reduce financial risks associated with making investment or spending decisions.
  • Have a strong understanding of fiscal policy and investment regulations.
  • Create usable budgets for the business, including evaluating the needs of each department in the long term.
  • Offer advice to the CEO and MD regarding spending and budget questions.
  • Hire and oversee leaders in the finance and accounting departments, including giving directions and delivering periodical evaluations.


Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Masters degree in Finance/ACA/ACCA/CPA or equivalent.
  • Experiences in financial analysis, financial advising or business analysis is preferred. Though not required, a Financial Controller could have certain financial certifications, like Financial Risk Manager or Chartered Financial Analyst.
  • Proven experience as director of finance or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws and best practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management softwares (e.g. SAP).
  • Excellent analytical skills .
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Outstanding, presentation, communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to create and deliver unbiased budget expectations for different departments.


Experience:

  • More than 10 years of experience in relevant field, as well as experience as a manager/head of department.
  • Knowledge of the Oil & Gas industry/ Financial project management/banking in the GCC region/Oman.
  • This job has a minimum commitment of 2 years of employment.
