Job Purpose

Coordinates plans and supervises workshop activities for designated Area at OQ8 under TL Maintenance Workshop’s scope; through the supervision of equipment inspections, and workshop activities of rotating Equipment, in coordination with owner assets; in order to ensure optimum plant availability, maximizing plant operational efficiency, reliability and safety and minimizing OpenX.

The position will act in accordance with the OQ8’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines, and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Oman’s government & other legal justification’s, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main Tasks And Responsibilities

Areas

  • A: Heavy Oil Complex Operation (CDU, VDU, SGP, LTU, KTU, DCU, and UGP)
  • B: Hydro Processing Complex (HCU/ARU/SRU/SWS/DHT/HPU/PSA)
  • C: Sulfur/Utilities Complex Operations (SRU, TGTU, ARU, CRU, SSW, CSW, BFW, Steam Generation, Air, N2, CWT, WWTP)
  • D: Offsite/Logistics Complex Operations (Crude Receiving Terminal, Refinery Tankage, Product Dispatch, Coke and Sulfur Handling, Flare, Buildings)

Workshops

  • Plan, lead, and coordinate all work orders to the team (Engineers, supervisors, and technicians) for its completion.
  • Ensure all work orders in the SAP system are closed and inform the team about the status of pending works.
  • Manages Tool room and Consumable required for day today maintenance .
  • Ensures workshop HSSE is managed for all function and all walkdowns are coordinated with HSSE team and close all observations
  • Coordinate with Planning and External Party to repair components outside OQ8 workshop facilities
  • Overview, plan and identify the goals and tangible outcomes to all the works, tools, or special equipment required for performing the different tasks in each section, to ensure the safe completion and accurate operation.
  • Design and approves the Training Program for Engineers, supervisors, and technicians on Predictive Maintenance support workshop equipments
  • Provide inputs for the development of maintenance contracts & their administration, technical evaluation on RFQ, control, and availability of resources.
  • Provide input in the technical evaluation of new tenders as required and participate in kick-off meetings on planned maintenance (CM, PM & TA)
  • Develop a well-defined back-up plan, such as organizing maintenance staff during on-call & emergency maintenance works in the plant during silence hours / off duty.
  • Review and update maintenance progress reports & contractor’s performance and takes appropriate action for any issues that arise.
  • Evaluate job performance for the assigned maintenance team and assist N-4 Maintenance in setting key performance indicators for the department.
  • Implement all Best workshop repair practices as per API standard and ensure quality of repair.

Coordination with Management, Maintenance, TSD, and contractors

  • Escalates major issues and critical activities related to workshop of rotating and Static equipment for assigned area
  • Coordinates on daily basis with Maintenance, and contractors to ensure the alignment with the inspection and maintenance plans and schedules, as well as with the availability of the resources.

External: Contractors, Vendors & Suppliers

Notable Working Conditions. Field Operations and office environment, Moderate to intensive computer screen use.

Education Requirements

Minimum Qualifications for this position is Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering or similar

Language Requirements

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required)

  • 5+ years in workshop Maintenance Services within Oil & Gas / Petrochemical or Refinery Plant..
  • Experience in Workshop, Rotating equipment.
  • Knowledge of maintenance processes:
    • Heavy Oil Complex Operation (CDU, VDU, SGP, LTU, KTU, DCU, and UGP)
    • Hydroprocessing Complex (HCU/ARU/SRU/SWS/DHT/HPU/PSA)
    • Sulfur/Utilities Complex Operations (SRU, TGTU, ARU, CRU, SSW, CSW, BFW, Steam Generation, Air, N2, CWT, WWTP)
    • Offsite/Logistics Complex Operations (Crude Receiving Terminal, Refinery Tankage, product Dispatch, Coke and Sulfur Handling, Flare, Buildings)
  • Familiar with Systems, Applications, and Products in data processing (SAP).
  • Rotating equipment: Workshop Maintenance and upkeep of field Rotating equipment
  • Experience and knowledge in project planning, cost control, contract development, installation, troubleshooting, and start-up.
  • Good experience in handling Maintenance Contracts and shutdown-related jobs.
