Senior Technical Business Analyst

Role Overview:

We are looking for a seasoned professional with dual expertise in Supply Chain & Logistics and Business Analysis for software development. The ideal candidate will have 15-20 years of experience in the logistics domain and a strong background in technical business analysis, particularly within a SaaS or software development environment. This individual will guide our software development team with deep industry knowledge while also translating business needs into technical requirements, ensuring that our solutions are both innovative and aligned with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Domain Expertise and Guidance:

  • Industry Insight: Provide expert insights on supply chain processes, particularly in customs clearance, freight forwarding, container depot management, and airport cargo management.
  • Process Mapping: Analyze and document logistics processes, identifying key areas for software integration and optimization.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that software solutions meet all statutory and regulatory requirements, including customs regulations and international trade laws.

Business Analysis and Technical Leadership:

  • Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather business requirements, ensuring they are accurately documented and understood.
  • BRD/SRS Documentation: Create comprehensive Business Requirements Documents (BRD) and Software Requirements Specifications (SRS) from scratch, translating business needs into detailed technical specifications.
  • Solution Design: Work closely with software architects and developers to design solutions that meet business objectives and user requirements.
  • User Stories and Acceptance Criteria: Develop detailed user stories and acceptance criteria to guide the development process, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact between the business and the development team, facilitating clear and effective communication.
  • Project Lifecycle Management: Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from initial concept and requirements gathering through to deployment and post-implementation support.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Team Leadership: Guide cross-functional teams, including developers, testers, and product managers, ensuring that domain knowledge is effectively transferred and applied.
  • Training and Support: Conduct training sessions for team members to enhance their understanding of logistics processes and the technical aspects of the software being developed.
  • Industry Trends and Innovation: Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements, proposing innovative solutions that keep the company’s products at the forefront of the market.

Required Domain Expertise:

  • Supply Chain & Logistics: In-depth knowledge of the entire supply chain process, including customs clearance, freight management, and container depot operations.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Expertise in customs regulations, tax regimes, and compliance with international trade standards.
  • Freight Management: Strong understanding of air, sea, and rail logistics, and the tools/software used to manage these processes.

Required Technical Business Analysis Skills:

  • Business Analysis: Proven experience in gathering and analyzing business requirements within a SaaS or software development environment.
  • Technical Documentation: Expertise in creating BRD, SRS, user stories, and other technical documentation.
  • Software Development Lifecycle: Deep understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) and experience in leading projects through the entire lifecycle.
  • Technical Acumen: Ability to work closely with development teams, understand technical challenges, and propose practical solutions.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 15-20 years of combined experience in the Supply Chain & Logistics industry and as a Business Analyst in a software development or SaaS environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading software projects and bridging the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of successfully translating business needs into technical solutions.
  • Experience in training and mentoring teams on both domain knowledge and business analysis best practices.
