System Officer

Role Objective

The SMS Officer will play an important role in the day-to-day delivery of the Safety Management System. The role has the responsibility of ensuring the availability of reliable Safety Systems to fulfil Safety Management System requirements.


Duties and Responsibilities

Area of responsibility

1.Develop and continuously maintain and support Safety programs as per requirements of the user's

2.Maintain all Safety systems used in the department functionality, reliability and accessibility to all staff

3.Maintain confidentiality of safety data and safety data provisions to authorities, IATA, etc.

4.Maintain Safety data retention as per regulations

5.Report to Safety Function Head any threats, violations and non-compliance on the safety systems

6.Preparing periodic safety reports for safety performance status from the safety systems

7.Ensure optimal implementation and utilization of the programs by providing on time support to all personnel involved in the function

8.Coordinate with system providers and information computing department for troubleshooting various issues with regards to the programs

9.Assist to prepare safety statistics and risk assessment statistics.

10.Provide computerized system support program training to all systems users in different departments

11.Provide IT support to the department

12.Assists in establishing, updating, and publishing Safety & ERP manuals, policies, and procedures to counter threats and risks in accordance with local/International Government requirements. This includes, creating electronic versions of department manuals and controlled documents

13.Present and disseminate information on findings to promote safety awareness, recommends and follows up on the implementation of corrective measures and mitigation actions

14.Train and guide safety systems users

15.Conduct internal and external system program audits as directed by Safety Function Head

16.Update and maintain the electronic safety library as per the document list

17.Provide technical to support the ERP center whenever required

18. Maintain safety department systems contracts and processing renewals and upgrades.

20. Review, update and follow-up of findings raised by authorities.

21.The concerned staff has to be available on phone for 24 / 7 and has to come to the work location if required and will have to inform the manager before leaving the base

22.Undertake any other duties assigned by Safety Function Head and his deputies.

23.Any other tasks assigned by management


Education & Experience

 Bachelor’s in engineering / computer science / IT or related discipline. Post-graduate degree would be an asset 3+ years of system operation experience and familiarity with support systems used in Safety Department

 OR Diploma in Engineering preferably Computer Science / IT related discipline with 5+years of total experience

 A strong technical background and proficiency in systems/ software handling.

Ideal Experience:

 In-depth understanding of, aviation systems functionality, and industry standards

 Ability to demonstrate commitment in implementing comprehensive SMS programs that align seamlessly with Oman Air's business objectives

 Good knowledge on Q-Pulse and WEB EOC system

 Demonstrated success in collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to drive the cross-functional initiatives


Special Skills & Knowledge

 Strong communication and leadership skills and proven to have good records on interaction with internal and external stakeholders

 Ability to work in a fast-paced environment / transformational setting

 Organized and efficient and a strong problem solver and decision-maker

 Proficiency in English (must) and Arabic (preferred)

 Ability to train and provide guidance for the system users
