A hands-on professional responsible for directly supervising and controlling all lifting and rigging operations on site to ensure safe and efficient execution.
Responsibilities
- Supervise all lifting operations on site in accordance with approved lifting plans.
- Conduct pre-lift checks on cranes, rigging equipment, and accessories.
- Ensure all lifting gear is inspected, certified, and fit for use.
- Brief crane operators, riggers, and banksmen before each lift.
- Control exclusion zones and ensure unauthorized personnel are kept clear.
- Communicate with crane operators using standard hand signals or radio.
- Monitor ground conditions, weather, and environmental factors during lifts.
- Stop lifting operations immediately if unsafe conditions are observed.
- Ensure correct rigging configurations and load attachment methods are used.
- Maintain daily lifting logs and inspection checklists.
- Report incidents, near-misses, and equipment defects to the Lifting Engineer and HSE team.
- Coordinate with other site supervisors to plan and sequence lifts.
