- Perform pre-shift equipment inspections, routine maintenance checks and report mechanical issues promptly.
- Execute drilling, blasting support, mucking, and material handling tasks as directed by site supervisors.
- Install and maintain ground support systems (rock bolts, mesh, shotcrete) under supervision and according to engineering plans.
- Monitor and assist with ventilation, gas detection and ground stability checks; follow confined-space and atmospheric safety protocols.
- Collaborate with geotechnical and survey teams to follow excavation plans and ensure accurate tunnel alignment.
- Complete accurate shift reports, equipment logs and incident/near-miss reports.
- Participate in safety briefings, toolbox talks and emergency response drills; follow PPE and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Mentor less-experienced crew members when required and support a cooperative, safety-first site culture.
Qualifications
- Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical diploma or vocational training in mining technology, heavy equipment operation, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years’ experience in underground mining or tunnelling operations, or equivalent experience on heavy underground equipment.
- Valid heavy equipment and/or commercial vehicle licences as required by local regulations; relevant operator certifications (e.g., drill operator, LHD, confined-space) preferred.
- Demonstrable knowledge of underground safety standards, ventilation principles, ground support techniques and hazard recognition.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort performing basic maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, underground conditions, and occasionally extended hours.
- Good communication skills, teamwork orientation, and willingness to follow supervisory direction.
- Physical fitness sufficient for underground work (lifting, climbing, confined spaces).
- Safety-first attitude with a clean safety record; first aid or rescue training is an asset.
- Fluency in English; additional language skills are an advantage.
What We Offer
