Electrical Design Head – Transformer Manufacturing

Key Responsibilities1. Strategic Responsibilities Define the strategic direction for the Design Unit, ensuring the adoption of effective, efficient, and economically viable design methodologies. Develop and monitor annual KPIs based on previous performance metrics. Present Design Unit performance during annual review meetings, highlighting achievements, challenges, and corrective actions. Periodically review and update design procedures and guidelines to align with industry best practices.2. Financial Responsibilities Manage the Design Unit’s annual budget, ensuring all expenses remain within approved limits. Prepare and finalize the R&D budget in alignment with company objectives.3. Operational Responsibilities Conduct market and technology research to stay updated on the latest transformer design trends. Coordinate with CMO/customers to review tender documents, specifications, and participate in GTP and design finalization discussions. Support tender preparation by accurately interpreting and implementing technical requirements. Collaborate with Planning, Purchase, and Production teams to finalize designs and oversee creation of accurate BOMs. Oversee detailed electrical and mechanical design of distribution transformers up to 10 MVA. Review and approve manufacturing and electrical drawings. Supervise preparation of purchase specifications and assist Purchase Department in vendor evaluation processes. Provide technical guidance to Production and Procurement during manufacturing. Make informed decisions on design deviations by evaluating risks, manufacturability, and impacts. Conduct root-cause analysis and drive continuous improvement based on manufacturing or site feedback. Contribute to new product development based on customer expectations and market intelligence.4. People Development Drive the Design Department’s contribution toward Omanization targets through structured hiring and development of Omani Nationals. Promote human capital development through capability-building initiatives. Perform additional tasks assigned by Management/Directors as required.
