SITUATION IN ORGANIZATION
- Reporting to Control Team Lead (N+1) and Head of Electrical & Instrumentation (N+2). This position has no direct reports.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Ensure highest safety and technical support in the assessment and recommendations for Control and Safety systems.
- Maintenance activities, issue procedures and technical support for its discipline
- Provide all aspects of Control and Safety systems engineering/technical support and assistance to offshore team, Operations Center, Maintenance support and Shutdown/Campaign entity.
- Responsible for the technical administration of all Control and Safety systems spare parts for field operation, from its creation to its refurbishment or end of life.
- Provide immediate support in close liaison with Tier 2 Maintenance Coordinator, Operations Centre Manager / personnel, Offshore stakeholders, Departmental Planners, Contracts and Procurement Department, Warehouse, Maintenance Department.

- Provide front line Control & Safety system technical / engineering support and solutions.
- Technical specialist in ICSS Control & Safety system Maintenance / Engineering, Control & Safety system Discipline Engineer.
- Position interacts daily with Offshore C&I Supervisors, Tier 2 Maintenance Coordinators, Operations Centre Manager / personnel, Departmental Planners, Contracts & Procurement Department, Warehouse, Maintenance Department and Offshore Team Leaders.
- Position has interactions with external stakeholders (Contractor Management).
- Provide input into budgets and draw on experience to highlight any unusual or unexpected impacts on budgets from unplanned or unaccounted work scopes.
ACTIVITIES
- Encourage and foster Incident Free environment through role model safety behaviors, take corrective action wherever necessary.
- Foster and reinforce positive HSE performance by vendor personnel, contractors and peers.
- Ensuring compliance with HSE legislation, company standards and procedures under the area of responsibility to ensure employee safety, legislative compliance, and responsible environmental attitude.
- Provide first level / front line specialist technical advice and guidance to site / offshore personnel on the maintenance of plant / equipment troubleshooting, root cause analysis and investigations where required involving multidiscipline teams.
- Provide technical and administrative support to the site base operations; preparation of scopes of work for short term interventions, organization of vendors, supply direct support to site requests (vendors, spare parts, tooling, technical procedures, work packs and work order resourcing.
- Ensure daily communication with NOC-OC T2 & Maintenance Engineers in T3 and provide support where required on technical issues. Attend any video conference call with offshore OTL’s and Discipline Supervisors.
- Proactive management of all safety and business critical backlog.
- Visit offshore sites on regular basis to enhance collaboration and promote the understanding of goals to ensure information flow is maintained efficiently.
- Visit vendor workshops / Lab for Factory Acceptance Test(FAT) if required.
- Manage the repair process for critical equipment, including visits to local vendor workshops and warehouses.
- Monitor the efficiency of the maintenance strategies for the maintenance, inspection and operation of Plant / Equipment and feedback to Maintenance Engineering.
- Ensure 4 months and 5 weeks planning are optimized, liaise with planning department, and attend weekly IOP meetings to ensure gate criteria are achieved. (Spares, vendor mobilizations, tooling, shipment, PR’s)
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency of all activities, improve equipment reliability and reduce operating costs.
- Contractor / Vendor performance management.
- Share and adopt best practices across the company, support and identify opportunities to enhance consistency and alignment between assets, where practicably possible.
- All staff must be willing to participate in Crisis Response Training and to assist during Emergency Response Situations if required.
CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT
Position is in a Joint Venture Operating Company on the Al Shaheen oil and gas field, one of the largest offshore oil and gas field s in the world. The role is onshore based in Doha, Qatar and is a permanent staff position on a residential basis (5 day working week). Role will require regular offshore trips together with visits to contractor offices and facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in Control & Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 07 years’ experience working in the Oil and Gas industry in a similar role or oil & gas automation engineering firm.
- Siemens PCS7 knowledge is a must including (Simatic Step 7, Wincc, F-systems, Redundant H-System & S7-400)
- Knowledge of Vmware ESxi and Vspehere , Allan Bradley RSlogix 500/5000 is advantage.
- Significant understanding and knowledge of Offshore Oil and Gas Plant / Equipment and expert in Control & Instrumentation Maintenance / Engineering for the same.
- Versatile, resilient, and able to interact effectively working in a multi-cultural and highly technical specialized environment.
- Thorough understanding and application of industry process safety guidelines and procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of cross discipline maintenance requirements, Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and planning processes.
- Good communicator and able to interact effectively with peers / Line Management.
- Medically fit to travel to offshore Oil and Gas Platforms.
- Results driven approach and attitude.
- Fluent in English written and oral communication skills.
- Industry recognized training and professional certification. TUV FsEng and/or GICSP is advantage.
