About the Company

Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.

Purpose of the Job

To supervise on-site rig and hoist operations in line with PDO's operational and HSE Standards to deliver wells / remove production deferment as per work program within time and budget.

Education & Experience

  • A minimum of 7 years in Well Engineering and/or HSE in Oil and Gas, with a minimum of 4 years as Site Supervisor and/or HSE operational role.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering discipline.

Main Responsibilities

  • Live the PDO values (Honesty, Integrity, Respect for People), exhibit the PDO behaviours (Engagement, Respect, Collaboration and Performance) and act as role model for colleagues.
  • Strong understanding of the regulation and standards (both PDO and industry), conduct assurance activity across all the units to identify the gaps and drive the compliance.
  • Self-starting and owning the execution of planned assurance activities assigned to the individual.
  • Under the guidance of SWE (Assurance), take appropriate ad-hoc action when detecting non-compliances; this may include shutting down work units in case of severe non-compliance with company requirements or to avert an unsafe situation.
  • Assist the SWE (assurance), operations team leaders in driving contractors to close out agreed actions to address the identified gaps.
  • Assist/Acting as lead on behalf of SWE (assurance) to conduct level 2 Operational Readiness Assurance (ORA) audit for unit start up, support the contracting department (UWC) with identified gaps and risk rating for decision making. Verify gap closure upon operations department approval of actions close out by contractor.
  • Assist SWE (assurance) to conduct yearly level 2 MSE audit, deliver audit term of reference (TOR), generate audit questionnaire, logistic planning, audit execution and reporting.
  • Assist/ Acting as lead on behalf of SWE (assurance) to conduct Level 2 HSE banding pre/post contract awarding, drive contractor gap closure and verification.
  • Assist SWE (assurance) for Level 3 assurance activity planning, provide support and coaching for operations teams to conduct Level 3 activity on site.
  • Conduct AD-HOC assurance activity on the request of Wells Assurance Manager/SWE (assurance).
  • Manage audit data reporting through digital tools (IDEAL) for assigned audits.
  • Generate learning from assurance (LFA) and practice worth replication (PWR), share and promote it across all units. Use the Well Engineering KIM framework and contribute towards making UWD a learning organisation.
  • Drive Learning from Incident (LFI) Implementation across the organisation.
  • Interface with field coaches and HSE advisor on the required follow up on assurance activities & managing findings on site.
  • Lead people to exhibit Lean behaviours, generate CI idea, drive the progressing of the CI idea.
