Role Overview

The role requires strong leadership in managing commercial operations, with a focus on health and safety, business continuity, risk management, and fostering teamwork. The candidate will oversee key business functions, including marketing and sales, shipping, contracts, procurement, and IT strategies.


1. Key Responsibilities

General Responsibilities:

  • HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, Environment): Ensure zero harm to employees, contractors, stakeholders, and the environment by establishing and delivering high HSSE standards.
  • Business Continuity: Identify potential risks to business continuity and develop effective mitigation plans.
  • Risk Management: Develop, update, and manage the Risk Matrix for all reporting departments.
  • Relationship Management: Maintain and manage key relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Team Management: Lead the commercial team in recruitment, development, training, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Board Representation: Attend Board meetings and support the CEO in matters related to commercial functions.
  • Company Values: Promote strong values, a solid work ethic, teamwork, and harmonious relationships across the organization.


Marketing & Sales:

  • Drive business growth through effective marketing and sales strategies to attract new customers and maintain relationships with existing ones.
  • Key Activities:
  • Review customer contracts for alignment with sales agreements.
  • Monitor market dynamics, drivers, and price movements.
  • Deliver monthly market reports and participate in marketing meetings.
  • Manage sales and shipping delivery plans in line with plant operations, customer contracts, and sales agreements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate sales invoicing, coordinating with the Finance department as needed.


Shipping:

  • Oversee the company's shipping program, managing relationships with key stakeholders and ensuring the successful execution of all shipping contracts, including Contracts of Affreightments.

Key Activities:

  • Lead weekly Sales & Shipping meetings.
  • Manage delivery plans in line with plant operations and contracts.


Contracts:

  • Oversee project and finance contracts.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with service providers and ensure robust contracts are in place for material, feedstock, utilities, and services.


Procurement:

  • Develop and maintain procurement systems and procedures that align with the company's needs and policies.
  • Ensure vendor contracts adhere to company procurement policies.

Key Activities:

  • Chair the Tender Committee to ensure smooth procurement processes.


Insurance:

  • Lead the company’s property and insurance programs through appointed brokers.


Information Technology:

  • Analyze company IT needs, design strategies, and implement secure infrastructures.
  • Lead the implementation of cybersecurity strategies to eliminate risks.


Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field is required, with an MBA preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 15 years of experience in marketing, business administration, or commercial environments.
