Senior Plant Inspection Engineer

Purpose and Scope

Plans, directs and supervises inspection and certification of the LNG Plant and OAG equipment and Central Workshops activities.

Duties Performed:

  • Directs and supervises the activities of assigned personnel in the Plant Inspection Section. Performs supervisory functions at the level established by Management, reporting directly to Team Leader Inspection (TLI).
  • Supervises the inspection and certification of all plant and equipment in the LNG Plant and OAG facilities and ensures that written reports are compiled as necessary.
  • Plans, establishes and supervise Plant Inspection scheduling, reporting and recording systems to conform with the requirements of CLIENT's accepted code of practice for inspection and testing. Including liaising with Maintenance and General Technical Services tor scheduling of equipment due for inspection and maintaining on-stream programme of all LNG Plant and OAG facilities.
  • Ensures that proper, Repair and Recommendations reports (R&R) are issued after assessing integrity of plant equipment, including proper identification of damages, affected areas, and specifications. Also, liaise with Maintenance and GTSD for timely execution of R&Rs.
  • Liaises with the Workshops Superintendent to provide inspection services for all works undertaken by the Workshop. Includes defining specifications and requirements and controlling the radiographic facilities.
  • Under direction of TLI, compiles Company codes and standards within his area of responsibility and in accordance with Company policies.
  • Sets up and maintains comprehensive records of all Plant and equipment and compiles technical reports and memoranda for Management review as reported through Head of Corrosion & Inspection.
  • Coordinate Fitness-for-Service of equipment as needed to ensure their integrity and safe operation.
  • Coordinate and/or participate in Risk Based Inspection assessment and continuously improve inspection planning to control risk to ALARP.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis and HAZOP reviews-
  • Advices TLI in preparation/compiling 5.Year Plan and equipment replacement plans, including major inspection projects as required in the plants.
  • Coordinate Turnaround Inspection works and participates in routine definition meetings.
  • Supervises Outsourced Inspection Contractor and ensures that all shutdown works are properly inspected. Also, ensures proper reporting and re-endorsing of equipment for service.
  • Assesses and advises TLI the need for the services of specialist contractors and the capability of potential contractors to satisfy such needs.
  • Provides technical advice to TLI, to ensure compliance with accepted Company Standards.
  • Maintains Plant and Equipment 'overdue for inspection' schedules and takes appropriate control action. Informs HC&I through TLI on a regular basis on the status of such schedules.
  • Reviews all new and modification development work to advise on construction standards, material selection and testing requirements in line with company and international standards.
  • Provides opportunities for training and development of employees under his direction (with emphasis on UAE Nationals) and assesses their progress, this includes on-the-job training, counseling and proper work delegation.
  • Ensures that safe operating and maintenance procedures related to inspection activities are followed, and counsels employees about compliance with safe working procedures as necessary.
  • Carries out other related or similar duties, such as enforcing safe maintenance procedures co-ordinating welder performance testing, preparing various specialized, technical and engineering reports, etc.

Skills,Experience and Education

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 12 years inspection engineering experience in the oil refining or petrochemical industry with preferably 3 years in a Senior Position.
  • Very good spoken and written English
