ROLE PURPOSE:

Drives and operates on assigned shift various lifting capacilities (2 - 15 Tons) of Forklift Trucks to remove,

transport, lift, load, unload vehicles or stack a variety of materials, bulky equipment, crates and general

materials. Carries out regular, routine maintenance and servicing work on Forklift to ensure safe working at

all times. Ensure compliance of company HSSEQ policies, procedures and guidelines.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Forklift Operation
• Receives instructions from the assigned Cargo
• Supervisor/Cargo Assistant and proceeds in the Forklift to the designated location to carry out assigned tasks.
• Lifts, moves, transports, loads, unloads, and stacks, by means of the Forklift, a variety of items such as boxes, crates, equipment, piping, fuel and diesel oil drums, and generally bulky materials, from and into racks, vehicles, warehouses and general store yards. Items may include expensive/ sensitive equipment i.e. diamond bits, instruments and panels.
• Drives and operates a Diesel or Electric Forklift Truck, by starting motor, shifting hydraulic levers and pedals, perfecting lifting position and ascertaining weight of materials to be moved versus the lifting capacity of the Forklift.
• Carry out pre-job operational check for mobile equipment/vehicles to ensure that they are kept in good operating condition. Includes checking of fuel, water, oil, battery, tire pressure, brakes and lights, and reporting malfunctions to Equipment Supervisor to arrange for maintenance.
• Carries out other similar or related duties such as assisting Riggers in the manual movement of bulky items, determining good storage position.

• Carries out all Forklift activities in accordance with Company,s HSSEQ policies, procedures and guidelines, including a concern for others in the Base.
• Frequency of non-compliance with HSSEQ policies & procedures.
• Follows hand signals and verbal instructions in loading and positioning of materials and ensures that load is safely secured and balanced before driving on.
• Maintain the Forklifts as per the manufacturer,s recommendations on safe operation and handling and maintenance.
• Ensure that protective clothing and footwear is worn at all times.
• Follow the relevant Work Instructions.
• Regularly attend Toolbox Talks.
• Report HSE Observations in the prescribed Card.
• Any accidents/incidence to be immediately report to the concerned Supervisor.

FRAMEWORKS, BOUNDARIES, &DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY:

• Mobile Equipment Operator B (Forklift Operator) reports to the Cargo Supervisor/Cargo Assistant.

COMMUNICATIONS &WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

• Contacts are normally limited to immediate work associates while carrying out material movements.

Skills,Experience and Education

Knowledge

• Completion of preparatory (9 years) plus training to obtain Forklift Operator’s Competency Certificate.

Experience

• 5 years& experience in the operation and routine maintenance of Forklift.

Skills

• Possession of a valid UAE Forklift Driving License.
• Simple knowledge of English sufficient to understand instructions.
