Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Legal Counsel to join our organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing expert legal advice and support on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters affecting the company’s operations in Qatar and internationally. The role requires strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic business environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Legal Advice: Provide timely and effective legal counsel to internal stakeholders on corporate, commercial, labour, and regulatory matters. Clarify legal language or specifications for the organization.
- Legal Documentation and Contract Management: Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a variety of commercial agreements, contracts, and legal documents
- Compliance: Ensure legal compliance with Qatari laws, international laws (where applicable), and relevant industry regulations.
- Risk Mitigation: Advise on contractual, legal and commercial risks associated with business initiatives and suggest appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
- Dispute Resolution / Litigation: Support litigation and dispute resolution matters, coordinating with external counsel when necessary.
- Corporate Governance: Participate in corporate governance activities, including monitoring internal governance polices as well as board resolutions, shareholder meetings, and legal filings.
- Liaison: Liaise with regulators and government authorities (e.g., MOCI, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Justice) as needed.
- Legal Updates: Monitor legal developments and regulatory changes in Qatar and assess their impact on the company.
Skills
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB); Master’s degree or international legal qualification is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years legal in-house or law firm experience, with at least 2 years in Qatar preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Qatari laws, particularly in corporate, commercial, employment, and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience negotiating contracts and working with senior executives and stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic; Arabic native speaker is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
- Strong legal (including drafting) skills.
- Experience of dealing with regulators and government representatives.
