Roles & Responsibilities

Nama Water Services (Oman Water and Wastewater Services Company) is pleased to announce a "Training for Employment" , in collaboration with its contracted companies that offer permanent job opportunities in the water and wastewater sector.

Job Purpose: The Database Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing organizational databases to ensure high availability, performance, integrity, and security of data used across business systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain database systems and environments.
  • Monitor database performance, availability, and security.
  • Perform database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations.
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and reliability across systems.
  • Optimize database performance through tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Manage user access, roles, and permissions.
  • Support database design, development, and implementation activities.
  • Identify and resolve database issues and system failures.
  • Implement database security policies and best practices.
  • Maintain documentation of database configurations, procedures, and standards.
  • Support data migration, upgrades, and system integration projects.

Working Conditions: Office-based work environment. May require occasional support during system maintenance, upgrades, or critical incidents.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications: Bachelor s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.

Experience: Practical Experience: 0 (No prior work experience required) Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.

Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of database systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL. Understanding of SQL and database concepts. Familiarity with backup, recovery, and data security principles. Basic understanding of system administration and servers. Knowledge of performance tuning concepts (advantage). Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. High attention to detail and accuracy. Good communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to work under supervision and follow procedures. Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills.

For applicants with previous work experience, at least three (3) months since their last employment movement recorded in the Ministry of Labour system, as of the date of this announcement. The applicant must not have previously benefited from any training program funded by either the public or private sector. The applicant must have no more than three (3) years of work experience. The applicant must not be more than 38 years of age
