ROLE PURPOSE
To carry out all Power and Water plant field related activities (hands-on or supervisory) within area of concern in a safe and reliable manner that will ensure Marafiq meeting its contractual commitments.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Conducting Rounds
Conducts routine plant checks and take periodical rounds in area of concern to monitor the technical condition and evaluates performance of the Power and Water Plant equipment.
2.Taking Readings
Take readings on a daily basis from the field installed instrumentation and compare the readings from the field with the ones from Distributed Control System (DCS) to have a clear idea of Plant condition.
3.Report Writing & Reporting Concerns
- Monitoring and logging all critical parameters such as lube oil levels, temps, pressures and equipment status daily.
- Raise concerns about related discrepancies to the line management following the comparison and analysis of the readings, and whenever a defect is observed.
- Report any unsafe act/environmental incident occurred in own area of work.
- Compile comprehensive reports whenever requested by the supervisory line and keep records of the reports.
4.Safety Adherence
- Be responsible for safely isolating the equipment, installing/removing LOTO devices, etc.
- Reporting Incidents and Near Miss and perform safety walkdown as per the KPI’s.
5.Coordination & Efficient Interaction
- Having good experience in Combined cycle Power plant (Gas turbines, HRSG, Steam turbines, BOP) and Reverse Osmosis Water plant field operations.
- Ensuring that all maintenance works in the plant strictly follow the PTW system in place.
- As a authorized operations person, Implementing isolations and normalizations (LOTO) as per the approved PTW procedures.
- Perform operational actions under direction from the BO (i.e. Valve operations, Isolation of breakers, switching on/ off pumps or resetting the local alarms etc) to avoid any abnormal plant operations or to correct existing abnormalities. Inspecting all MV and LV SWGR’s for any abnormalities.
- Prepare plant for start-ups in accordance with approved Pre-start check list and approved operations procedure.
- Performs plant shut down and extended shut down, preservation of plant routines in accordance with approved operations procedure. Perform manual intervention actions during trip conditions and maintain close supervision to ensure safe shutdown and restoration of the plant.
- Interface with the Maintenance team for any maintenance activity in area of work.
- Coordinate efficiently with and follow up on any contractor regarding inspections and turnarounds.
- Support Board operator during emergency situation.
- Carry out the sample analysis of the plant process steam water cycle in cases where chemist is not on-site and on HRSG, Demin water, Desal, portable water and other samples.
- Perform routine site inspections, update plant equipment status, identify the abnormalities and report the Work notifications to maintenance through CMMS.
- Daily communication of plant operational issues and defects with the BO, SS and other team members.
- Responsible for Chemical tankers unloading and changing over of chemical tanks. Perform the Chemical Unloading checklist.
6.Handover to Next Shift
Ensure the appropriate and timely hand-over of all information, activities, and reports to the upcoming shift’s team.
7.Providing Guidance & Assistance
Provide guidance to new joiners and trainees in performing their duties during the on-job training program.
8.Housekeeping of Area of Work
Be responsible for the proper housekeeping of Power and Water plant.
9.Policies & Procedures
Comply with the implementation of departmental policies and procedures, to ensure that all relevant procedural and legislative requirements are fulfilled.
10.Health, Safety & Quality
- Comply with all relevant health, safety and quality requirements, in order to guarantee employee safety and legislative compliance.
- Practical application of safety rules performing safe plant isolations from the system to allow routine maintenance activities. De-isolates and restores plant equipment safely to the system.
11.Continuous Improvement
Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into consideration ‘leading best practices’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.

Educational & Professional Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Higher National Diploma (Mechanical, Electrical, Process) from a recognized University.
- Proficiency in English is a must, Arabic is a plus.
Minimum Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of direct and relevant experience in a similar environment.
- Extensive experience related to Combined cycle Power plant and Reverse Osmosis Desalination processes.
- Competent technical, operational and HSE experience to oversee the effective implementation and execution of the Operation activities.
