We are looking for a planning engineer with 7 years of experience to work with a major contractor in Oman on a rail project connecting Oman with the GCC.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Understand work scope, quantity and logical sequences in terms of engineering, manufacturing and construction disciplines
- Work with management and project team in the development of work break down structure for progress measurement, scheduling ,cost estimating and project control
- Create Baseline Schedule as per the provided Designs, Bill of Quantities, Specifications, and Master Schedule
- Determine the logic and sequence that shall be followed in the creation of the baseline, as well as the activity codes
- Develop work method of statement or procedure as required
- Prepare and analyze project cash flows
- Conduct field scoping to clarify scope and progress of work as required
- Track, monitor and forecast progress of all activities and deliverables
- Analyze gaps between the planned and actual progress and highlight the areas of concern which require action
- Propose preventative or corrective action e.g. increase in work force, overtime operations, increase in amount of construction plant or equipment
- Conduct Earned value analysis, Progress tracking, critical path and multiple critical paths analysis and delay impact studies when needed
- Issue and submit update programs and the corresponding scheduling reports
- Prepare and update look-ahead schedule reflecting priority activities
- Prepare recovery plan and recovery schedule (if required)
- Monitor and follow-up the proposed recovery plan
- Advise on the impact of change orders and time extensions on contract completion
- Liaise with all team members to communicate required completion dates
- Participate in all project meetings
Required Experience
- 7 years of planning experience in the construction industry
- Expertise in the use of Primavera P6 software and other related state of the art project management tools
Required Education
- B.Sc. in Engineering discipline related to the construction industry (preferably Civil Engineering)
