WRc's team in Oman are looking to expand and are recruiting for a Field Engineer to join them! This is a full time position based at our new office location in Muscat, Oman.
In this role you be responsible for ensuring that the water service pipe replacement from water mains to customer homes is being undertaken in a safe way and that the installation is compliant with our processes and standards by carrying out field audits and desktop analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out field audits as directed by the scheduling team to check compliance of site set up and health and safety standards. To check operator qualifications (Temporary passport to work and Passport to work) process compliance to standard and coach and provide feedback and if necessary stop the job until defects have been corrected
- Carry out assessments of trained operators to check understanding and compliance with passport to work and if standards are met issue full passport to work
- Ability to take accurate records eg trench depth and electrofusion welding parameters
- Deliver coaching and feedback to contractors in the moment to course correct and ensure standards are met
- The ability to articulate complex information to those who may have a basic understanding through the use of written and verbal communication
- Deliver classroom training for contractors who are not meeting the standard and new contractors
- To uphold the standard for service pipe installation
Person Specification:
- Strong influencing skills both at senior and front line operations Must be able to credibly advise, guide and constructively challenge when required
- Knowledge of construction health and safety in order to assess and promote a safe working environment eg signing lighting and guarding (SLG) and traffic management
- Previous experience in managing contractors and reviewing risk assessments and method statements
- Leakage operations logging / leakage detection is desirable
- Site construction procedure CDM
- Be self motivated and self confident in order to work alone in all weathers day and night and with a high level of autonomy
- Dealing with conflict e.g interpretation and application of standards
- An understanding and empathy for the challenge of front line operations
- Pragmatic and collaborative approach to problem solving.
