HSE Officer - Salalah, Oman

HSE Officer will support the implementation, monitoring and enforcement of HSSE activities in the Plant, and take all necessary and reasonable actions to prevent harm to people, equipment and the environment, whilst ensuring compliance with legal requirements, organisational standards and contractual obligations.


Technical Guidance and Services

  • Provide support to assess risks and review tasks of key operational activities in order to identify and prevent probable HSSE hazards leading to significant losses.
  • Attend meetings with contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors and advise them on the HSSE management and performance in order to create awareness and ensure adherence to defined standards.

HSSE Management Systems

  • Assist in the implementation of the Plant’s HSSE management system, including emergency preparedness and management, to ensure conformity to ACWA NOMAC standards and compliance with HSSE legal requirements and contractual obligations.

HSSE Management, Monitoring & Reporting

  • Conduct site HSSE tours on a day-to-day basis, monitoring the site HSSE performance and compliance to ensure adherence to the HSSE policies and procedures.
  • Develop daily / monthly HSSE reports, highlighting any incidents, concerns and issues at the Plant to ensure timely escalation and resolution of problems at the site.
  • Support the implementation of the work permit system, ensuring proper measures are taken prior to commencement of work such as equipment or plant isolation, shutdowns, commissioning etc., to ensure all work areas are safe for required work.

Training

  • Assist to the delivery of HSSE training to ensure that all employees and contractor staff are aware of the HSSE standards and the asset HSSE management systems.
  • Help advise contractors on the content of HSSE standards in order to create awareness on the HSEE expectations and enable the provision of best practices.
  • Assist in the implementation of HSSE campaigns on the site to ensure proper HSSE Culture is disseminated to all employees and contract staff.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree holder in Safety, Environmental or Engineering or demonstrable equivalent
  • Certification from a recognized HSSE institution (NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH, IEMA, etc.)
  • Professional membership or association with an international HSSE Institution (OSHA, IOSH, IEMA etc.)

Minimum Experience:

  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in HSSE preferably in the Utilities / Energy sector
