Title: Senior Associate - Energy

JOB PURPOSE:
To effectively manage OIA assets, investment and portfolio companies through close reporting, benchmarking , KPI implementation and improvement initiatives for the purpose of enhancing the profitability and growth of the investments. Also, business development entailing deal sourcing, agreement structuring and new project maturation. Internal initiatives for improving the work environment and team collaboration
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Contribute to the development of the Energy’s strategy as cascaded down from the Energy & Mining departmental’ s strategy and oversee its implementation and its operations, to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing entities’ strategies across OIA.
• Effective stakeholder management and applying skills for effective interface management with team members, government stakeholders and business partners. Have experience in building business networks for effective business development and asset management.
• Manage the Energy’s daily operations by providing expertise, enabling teamwork, and aligning processes, in order to achieve high performance standards and meet established targets.
• Work with stakeholders at OIA, Policy entities and holdings to align sector strategies to Vision 2040 and new developments in the energy sector.
• Oversee the rights of OIA as a shareholder at OIA Energy companies which includes approving budgets, business plans, debt acquisition, investments, divestments, etc. to ensure proper management of shareholder reserved matters as per OIA’s governance guidelines.
• Develop and execute stakeholder management plan including both the respective companies and external stakeholders, such as policy makers, sector regulators, MOF, related entities, etc. to foster the stakeholders’ involvement.
• Support the team to prepare divestment notes aligned with proposals received by holdings for endorsement by relevant authorities at OIA.
• Take lead in transaction origination efforts for allocated sector to ensure that the Investment transactions’ execution process is in line with the Corporate Governance and investment policy guidelines.
• Critically review due diligence studies, guide advisors on areas for further work to collect critical investments’ findings, and ensure that the latter are reported to more senior deal team members, EDI Director, and as appropriate to the Investment Committee.
• Coordinate and monitor transactional and execution activities including but not limited to relationships with shareholders and other stakeholders, investment banks, investment partners, due diligence advisors, etc. to minimize investments risks.
• Manage the Investment and sector development initiatives being through new investments, capital projects, specific initiatives or strategic partnerships, etc. to support OIA companies in maximizing their returns/value.
• Landscape the sector gaps and work with OIA teams, stakeholders and partners to structure and develop investments that maximize OIA, FDI and In Country Value.
• Review sector strategies developed at OIA holdings and maintain alignment with OIA diversification and growth targets.
• Maintain constant alignment of OIA’s Mining sectors with the country’s diversification objectives and targets in addition to compliance with OIA programs and initiatives by portfolio to identify the noncompliance and recommend and take corrective measurements when necessary.
• Build and preserve relationships with key stakeholders including VISION 2040 and other related national initiatives and programs to stay well informed about the latest trends, to develop and de-risk projects and consequently optimize OIA’s companies’ results.
• Oversee the privatization and divestment mandates for companies operating in the Energy sectors and support their alternative funding strategies to maintain and safeguard the investment maximum value.
• Manage the periodic review and monitoring of operational and financial performance of OIA companies operating in Energy sectors and maintain overall understanding of the landscape in which the companies are operating including the sector developments and the sector’s regulatory framework to stay abreast of the investments’ performance, be able to support the companies’ directors, and provide the Investment MIS & TS directorate with the required inputs.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on each portfolio company to communicate it with the concerned internal parties.
• Comply with the implementation of Energy policies and procedures, to ensure that all relevant procedural and legislative requirements are fulfilled.
• Comply with all relevant health, safety, and quality requirements, in order to guarantee employee safety and legislative compliance.
• Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account ‘leading best practices’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or any other relevant field
- CFA, CMA, CPA, FMVA, FRM
- 8 to 11 years of related experience
- Preference will be given to candidates with sector expertise in downstream energy business such as refining, polymer industries and chemical industries.
- Fluency in English is essential
- Proficiency in MS Office is essential (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
