Roles & Responsibilities

Overall, Purpose of the Role: Karwa Motors is looking for a newly graduated firefighter to work in the Department of Health, Safety and Environment, as well as in accidents and emergencies. The HSE Firefighter manages daily health, safety, and environmental operations related to fire equipment management, ensuring business continuity, and maintaining high safety standards within Karwa Motors. Location: Duqm, Sultanate of Oman Reporting To: HSE Supervisor Key Responsibilities: Fire & Safety Management: Manage fire, health, safety, and environmental (HSE) operations. Provide technical guidance on job duties and safety-related activities. Conduct inspections and tests to verify the readiness of all fire protection equipment, vehicles, and firefighting systems Karwa Motors-wide. Ensure rapid response to fire incidents and oversee fire wardens and First aid teams. Inspection & Compliance: Coordinate inspection programs for firefighting equipment, functional fire detection and suppression system tests, and facilities. Ensuring workers compliance with the HSE requirements. Conducting awareness and Tool box Talks. Site and camp inspection and verification compliance with the safety rules and norms. Providing safety induction for new joiners and safety courses for the teams. Ensuring the visitors compliance with the KM safety regulations. Prepare detailed written reports, including initial emergency reports and incident assessments. Ensure compliance with local and international fire safety regulations, including NFPA and Omani EN standards. Emergency Response & Training: Respond promptly to all fire and emergency alarms; coordinate government agencies as necessary. Manage fire wardens and first aid team personnel in implementing fire protection and prevention measures. Conduct monthly fire safety training and awareness sessions for Karwa Motors employees. Train various staff on their roles during emergency incidents. Collaboration & Maintenance: Work with contracting companies to ensure the completion of fire safety-related projects and submit assessment reports. Partner with the maintenance department to oversee fire protection system repairs and upgrades. Conduct initial fire risk assessments and develop strategies to contain and mitigate damage. Participate in facility inspections, report findings, and follow up with relevant departments. Policy Development & Risk Management: Provide recommendations for improving fire protection, suppression systems, and fire detection equipment. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of HSE management systems, risk management methods, and HAZOP studies. Assist in the development and revision of safety policies, procedures, and guidelines. Demonstrate commitment to occupational health, safety, security, and environmental sustainability. Skills and Attributes: Scientific and practical knowledge of firefighting sciences and how to combat them. Working knowledge of firefighting equipment and devices. Knowledge of first aid / cardiopulmonary resuscitation methods. Willingness to follow legal rules, guidelines, and firefighting standards at all times. Great physical strength and ability to respond to potential emergencies. Practical mind and ability to solve problems. Successfully pass firefighting tests (written, physical, psychological, etc.). Accredited courses in the basics of firefighting. An Emergency Medicine Technician (EMT) certificate is preferred. High level of personal integrity and accountability. Self-motivated with strong initiative and judgment. Excellent teamwork and leadership skills to achieve departmental goals. Ability to prioritize tasks and work with minimal supervision. Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of NFPA and Omani EN standards for fire protection systems. Strong understanding of industrial safety standards, hazard and risk assessments, PPE, and confined space entry procedures. Knowledge of local and international environmental regulations and fire safety compliance. Proficiency in using inspection planning and execution tools. Qualifications and Experience Levels: Minimum Bachelor's degree in Firefighting Science or equivalent. Omani National only. Additional certifications are a plus for the candidates.
