The Role
The Plant Manager oversees the daily operations of the production facility, ensuring the efficient, safe, and profitable production of products while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The manager will lead and develop the plant team to achieve operational excellence and drive continuous improvement.
- Oversee the production, packaging, and distribution of products.
- Ensure production schedules are met within budget, maintaining efficiency and quality.
- Monitor equipment performance and schedule maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Maintain standards of product quality in compliance with local and international food safety regulations.
- Implement and manage quality control systems, including HACCP and GMP standards.
- Ensure all processes meet environmental, health, and safety standards.
- Lead, train, and motivate the plant staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Manage staffing levels, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Promote a safe and positive work environment.
- Develop and manage the plant’s operational budget, controlling costs and improving profitability.
- Monitor inventory levels and manage raw material procurement efficiently.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Analyze production data to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements.
- Stay updated on industry trends and innovations to enhance plant operations.
- Drive sustainability initiatives within the plant.
- Collaborate with senior management to align plant operations with company goals.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and regulatory bodies.
- Prepare regular reports on plant performance and operational metrics.
The Ideal Candidate
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Industrial Engineering, Business Management, or related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in plant operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Experience in managing large-scale production facilities.
- Familiarity with quality standards like HACCP, ISO, and GMP.
- Proficiency in using ERP systems and production management tools.
- Relevant certifications in food safety, quality management, or production are an advantage.
