Job Title: Chemical Engineer

Reports To: Engineering Manager / Plant Manager

Job Details

Number of Vacancies: 1 Position

Salary Range: OMR PHONE_NUMBER per month

Work Location: All governorates of Oman except Dhofar (Preference will be given to applicants from the local governorate)

Job Purpose

The Chemical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, monitoring, and optimizing chemical processes to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production operations. The role focuses on improving process performance, maintaining product quality, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, evaluate, and optimize chemical processes and production systems.
• Monitor plant operations and analyze process performance to identify improvement opportunities.
• Conduct process calculations, simulations, and technical evaluations.
• Support troubleshooting activities and implement corrective actions to resolve operational issues.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Prepare process documentation, technical reports, operating procedures, and engineering calculations.
• Participate in plant commissioning, startup, shutdown, and process modification activities.
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance, laboratory, and project teams to achieve production objectives.
• Evaluate raw materials, equipment performance, and production efficiency.
• Support process safety management initiatives and risk assessments.
• Assist in implementing cost reduction, energy efficiency, and continuous improvement programs.
• Provide technical support and training to operational personnel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor s Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

Experience

• Practical Experience: 0 (No prior work experience required)
• Internship or academic projects in chemical engineering or industrial processes are an advantage.

Technical Skills

• Basic knowledge of chemical engineering principles, process design, and optimization.
• Familiarity with process calculations, mass and energy balances, and engineering analysis.
• Understanding of process simulation tools such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or similar (advantage).
• Awareness of process safety management and risk assessment concepts.
• Basic knowledge of industrial equipment, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Ability to read and interpret PFDs, P&IDs, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to learn and develop technical expertise.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
• Good organizational and documentation skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.

Working Conditions

Office and plant-based work environments. May require site visits, plant inspections, troubleshooting activities, and support during shutdowns or emergency situations.
